Negative, you can only install it in the main berth where you sleep.

I'd lean more towards Uncle Sam not having the funds to pay everyone who took the cash out option, having to officially declare the fund was bankrupt.

I can't find a more recent comparison of SS and the Galveston County alternative adopted in 1981.

For those not familiar, you might find this interesting.

"Climate change" is not "global warming", keep that in mind. Who knows the cause, but there are changes in global weather patterns that are real, and are causing chaos that could get worse. Overall average temps are rising, but the volatility in temps is also rising. So if the average in a US state was say 60 degrees 100 years ago but is 62 now, that could still mean hotter summers and colder winters. All I know is that some winters have been a lot warmer than the past, but the cold blasts have been much worse too.

Stop with the climate change non-sense. Scientists were saying in the '70's that we were facing an ice age soon...

If the earth's life was condensed into a year, mankind would be less than the last second of that year. Think about that for a minute. We are not making the climate any different. The natural cycle of the earth is making it rise slightly.

See that’s where you’re wrong. We actually have a very accurate map of climate on this planet over the last 10,000 years. I’d be happy to explain to you how that’s possible if you like, but in a nutshell it’s gauging the levels of various carbons that were in the atmosphere which directly correlate with climate, and it’s very accurate. Nowhere in the last 10,000 years has the climate of the Earth changed more rapidly than in the last 100 years or so. (Industrial revolution?) And we’re talking exponential changes from what would naturally occur. Again happy to explain how we understand and can see that. Seems I’m probably on the wrong forum for that though.

It seems most of you don’t understand (or are willfully ignorant) of the science behind man made caused climate change and so you dismiss it as nonsense. At least that’s what I’m hearing. Hey can’t say I blame you ..ignorance is bliss. I for one just hope future generations like my kids and grandkids can enjoy the same things about this world that we have all enjoyed. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.

Since you think the climate change is man made/caused, I take it your still a willing participant in the death of the planet and willing to deny your kids of the “things we enjoy” seeing how you operate a gross polluting, gas guzzling power boat like us “deniers”.
You would be a little more convincing if you preached from the deck of a sailboat maybe.

What do you know about me other than the fact I own a boat and believe in climate change? Nothing. So I’m not going to defend myself against a personal attack which holds no merit.

    Have a nice day.

Isn't the earth roughly 4.5 Billion years old? 10,000 years seems like a small sample.

Then the questions I asked yesterday should be relatively easy for you to answer.

Anyway GFC. Entertaining topic & I am hoping over the next few years everyone has skin in the game in regards to paying taxes - everyone & not based on income levels. Typically those who pay little to no taxes use the most Gov. resources. They need to pay as well.

This is 450,000 years and it's still a fraction of a sample. The cycle seems pretty regular.

Tax cuts are interesting, one effect is it creates more folks that don't pay taxes. They go from good upstanding citizens to 'freeloaders' with the swipe of the pen.

Its going to be a long winter folks! Lets go easy on each other. All the easy problems/issues were solved long ago. Its only the unsolvable or really tough ones left. Anyone who thinks they have "THE" right answer to any complex problem, is wrong.

Then again, all generalizations are false.

    Smile everyone.

Maybe a little insight as to how you determine you are so right and others so wrong?
Maybe some global facts are due:
1 - Our earth precesses about it axis once every 26000 years. Precession is the wobble of the axis about the center of the earth. As the axis tilt with respect to the sun it varies the thermal flux conditions and gravitational influence - every 26000 years (ice age periodicity?).
2 - The apogee and perigee of the earth's orbit about the sun varies inconsistently with it's periodic rotation (1 per year) about the sun; this is principally due to influences by the moon and other planets; this varies the thermal flux conditions of the earth as well as the gravitational influences.
3 - There is no evidence of steady state or cyclic behavior in our global weather patterns other than generic influences by the sun and gravity. We have had the most sophisticated computing power focused on this for 40 years and yet no predictable patterns.
4 - Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is a gas that can hold thermal energy within the earth's atmosphere as well as methane and other common chemistry. CO2 is consumed by the earth's vegetation; the trick is to produce no more CO2 that can be consumed. CO2 can be partially controlled by humans however is a small component, in fact insignificant component, in the overall global warming or climate change or whatever the term might be.
So, yes there are climate changes coming and climate change is inevitable but to throw your "kids and grandkids" as threatened is a bit naive.
To say "we have very accurate map of climate change over the last 10,000 years is a bit false. We have good data of the earth's conditions over a millennia and have surmised through analysis the root cause of the conditions. There is limited hypotheses as to the correlation of the exact reasons to the historical changes; to say a rise in CO2 "was the cause" is ignorant as a rise in CO2 could have been a result. Nobody really knows other than we do know the solar conditions are the principal facts to change.

Actually your employer withheld from your gross wages to a dedicated fund originated by FICA. And to be more exact your employer matches the FICA contribution. Someone in these postings called this fund an "entitlement" which it is not as your withdraws are based upon the contributions and your life expectancy at time of withdraw. An entitlement has no created value by the recipient such as Medicaid. The sad part of this FICA scheme is the government decided to use these funds for other reasons and not pay interest to the fund as they do in bonds. This was in 1968 when LBJ decided to establish a "unified budget" and the fund got lumped into a common federal budget and consequently lost as a dedicated fund to time.

"I started paying into SSA in....ready for this....1961. So do you think I feel bad about collecting my social security payments now?"

"Actually your employer withheld from your gross wages to a dedicated fund originated by FICA."

Ummm, Mr. Mott, aren't the end results of those two statements identical? The statements are saying the same thing except for the semantic difference. Technically you're correct in that I didn't actually mail a check all those years, but the end result is that money was taken from me, and matched by the employer to pay a future benefit back to me.

I don't normally rise to the occasion of splitting hairs with someone but this one was just too tempting to pass up. Low hanging fruit and all that, ya know.

I could go on and give plenty of data supporting my position but why bother? No matter what I say will sway anyone else’s stance here, so I digress. Truth is I came here in a hope to enhance my sea ray ownership experience, as well as help others do the same. So that said, I think I’ll stick to the boating related forums here on CSR and let you guys continue to reinforce each other’s world and political views here in the tiki bar. Have fun and enjoy.
