That picture looks like the bone yard north of Key West. Spooky out there, we have rode through there on the dinghy.

Everything I have seen doesn't look like Key West will get much weather, maybe TS level winds. But then the people there understand variability and are accustom to preparing.

Yes the bone yards

@Blueone - If Fl declares evac in the Keys you need to exit. You will become a liability to others that need to be there for a variety of other important reasons. More than once I've volunteered to support recovery and it's those fools that didn't belong there taking time from others that have more important things to do. Don't be that fool.

Got it @ttmott you can stop repeating it now…and calling me a fool is a bit premature when you are not down here experiencing what I am and the ton of information I have to make my decision…. But continue you on with your expertise …..I welcome all information

FYI ….. Pinellas County has now posted Mandatory Evacuation orders for most of the the coast…from Tarpon Springs down to Ft. DeSoto and around to St. Petersburg and Safety Harbour.

Please re-read - the last thing I'd do is call someone that - I'm saying be smart and do what is right not only for yourself but just as importantly for others - "don't be that fool". I've been through this a multitude of times and like I said I've been on the early entry recovery crews. What I've seen can't be overstated to be cautious especially on those islands connected by a single road and single water/power infrastructure. Think about this - consider you have a heart attack, and you are in an evac area - no one is coming to your aid - the 911 is not going to happen to your best interest.

Omg… you can’t be serious. Are you the smartest guy in the room ?…. I am in key west I am talking to every one that I know who live here and work here. My condo is a cement fortress with steel curtains we have water and food to last a week…. I am not a rookie when it comes to survival…. I get it you probably run across people that are unprepared…. I’m not one of them. And actually kind of insulted…. I understand you don’t know me and your comments are meant to help…. But in my case a bit over the top.
Take another look at key west and the hurricane

I've been watching a couple Key West harbor cams yesterday and today.

It can't be all that bad, this guy didn't even take down his sun shade :):)

Pretty quiet this morning…. A lot of rain … no real wind…. The complex told us not to close the steel drapes they said they are only for severe weather and doors and windows are hurricane proof

That is where I am ….. I noticed that boat last night going for dinner

Which direction is your room facing? I wonder what that'll sound like tonight when the wind kicks up for a few hours. "Hurricane Party" :)

Room is facing west….. we got invited to a hurricane party to night …..it’s at the sand bar sports bar…. They have half price hurricane drinks ….. we tried one last night. They have 5 categories of course we went for category 5….. 151 proof….. not for the faint of heart :)

Must be. It has you posting double 8 hours later!

Blueone…..“The complex told us not to close the steel drapes they said they are only for severe weather”

Are these different from the roll type hurricane shutters?
I am curious why you wouldn’t want to use them even if it wasn’t “severe” weather?
We use our shutters regularly, if not for just excercising them in thunderstorms.
