Trailer Weight Question

All,

looking for some input on towing my 2005 260 sundancer with this trailer?

Boat dry weight is 7500 - trailer shows a 7800 pound rating with torsion axels, 1 axel brakes

do you guys feel this trailer would be sufficient for the 2005 260 dancer?

No! Not enough payload. Not enough brakes.

Not even close That trailer has a carrying capacity of 6,400lbs. You need a carrying capacity for a LOADED boat... fuel, options, gear, water, black water, etc, etc. Add at least 10% to that number and THAT is carrying capacity that you need. Roughly speaking, that trailer is about half of what you need. And, as mentioned, brakes on all axles!

that's what i figured !

so essentially, i should be looking at a trailer capacity of at least 10-12k pounds

When I had a 1999 260 Sundancer We had a Shoreland'r tandem axle trailer with 5200 lb axles. The weight carrying capacity was 8500 lbs. I felt that trailer was a little on the light side. Your 2005 would weigh more than the 1999 that we had. I would be looking for a tri axle trailer or a tandem with 6,000 lb axles.

I had an 06 260, it had a triple axle Ez Loader. It pulled so nicely down the highway.
Never had a problem.
