Too much water in bilge!!!

Got it. Edited. Thanks. My English teacher would have been horrified.

I had two different threads up reading them and missed a portion of your comment that nullified the thoughts I posted therefore I removed the post so "Edit" was not directed at you. "Deleted" would have be a better term for me to use. :)

All terrific responses and many thanks to all......a new float switch and new battery later, engine runs fine, planes perfectly,no hose leaks, broken fittings or other gremlins. I ran on plane with engine compartment hatch up: bilge was dry as a fart. Banked hard right and left and noticed a lot of water coming in through two scuppers deep in the engine comp., one on either side of the block. Fellow at marina says that these boats can, in fact hold a bit of water forward, and only when bow is up, will it make it's way to stern, through those drains in engine compartment into the bilge. I asked about salt water taste of the bilge water, and he reminded me that if fresh (rain or hose) water mixes with any of the salt along the way, that would explain the salt water taste.......any further responses? Still a bit baffled, but with a little more clarity.....

You have to have a good bit of weight (people) on your boat or rought seas to get the water to come in the side seam. The engine misfire and loosing power you felt was the water being slung around and going into the intake.

Fixing the float switch and pump are just helping to get rid of the water if this is the issue. Have you tried a water hose on the side of the boat to see if water comes into the bilge?

The water in the front of the boat will run to the back immediately when planning not when banking. If you banked hard enough you could have got the seam near enough to the water to push some in at that time.

Have your dealer fix the rub rail seam....if she does not pass the water hose test.
