I took my mid cabin cushions to an upholsterer and got a price of $1150 to remove and replace 12 yards of material from original fabric to "leather". it consists of 2 base pieces (sitting area) which need some stitching on the corners but mostly staple on the bottom, 3 backrest pieces with upper and lower cushions that create 1 whole (separated by zippers on top half and bottom)one is a good size corner filler and the top piece that ties it all in and is stapled to an L-shaped frame.
I was told the material is 300/ and 850 labor. This is the frst guy I brought it to and wanted to get an opinion from the group to see if this sounded too high? I am probably getting a second quote this week but putting out a feeler to all who have done this.
It is a 6 foot couch. 92' 300 da

I had my back bench redone with Sunbrella and it was about $2K for the work and material... FYI...

Gary, I love the way you did that bench. It looks great. I may have to do alittle updating this spring. JC

I want to redo the whole interior (bedspreads/curtains/pillows) with Sunbrella and get rid of that silky girly crap that doesn't hold up very well...

Gary,
That aft seating looks spectacular. Did you take off the vinyl and re-upholster, or is the sunbrella a cover?

I don't think I'd be up for covering the bedspreads and pillows though. The sunbrella is a little too coarse for that...

knowing me, I would be about 2 hours into a trip and remember that I forgot to take those throw pillows off.

That's a whole new seat... No vinyl underneath. That used to be a split seat and rain would leak down in the storage area... The new seat is one piece with hydraulic pistons attached to hold it up. The base is a big piece of starboard with some holes in it (i.e. swiss cheese) and that was around $500 if I recall....

You have to fess up though, that black must be a nightmare with the salt spray.

Mike is confusing my black seat with my black jetski cover... The black canvas covering the dinghy or jet ski sees salt spray and gives the whole "Monica Lewinsky" effect thing... The seat stays clean... Like Obama.

How many times have you fished them out of the water?

Not for nothing fella's, I posted a question and it turned into Dog's farting and salt spray on Sunbrella. Gary it looks Great! Now does anyone have any comments re: the original topic, got yours Gary thank you. Snowing again in Boston. This sucks! thanks :smt021

I was just showing mine originally to show what the cost was and what I got... So I don't thing the price you got is out of line. I will say you should get references and look at the workmanship before going with a shop... there are huge differences I've seen with skill/price.

Gary,

That does look nice, I like the idea of a one piece seat to keep the compartment dry. Does the backrest still hinge up, and what is the purpose of the hinge?
