The Official 450 Express Bridge Owners Club

We are back in Avalon for the weekend. Our friends and slip neighbors took this picture as we raced across the channel. His 51’ Riveria averaged 24 knots so it wasn’t close. o_O

Nice pic, whoa...dude was Hauling the mail!

Perhaps his fuel tanks were close to E!

I had a lucky break this weekend. On Saturday for some reason the bay was full of little jellyfish especially in the morning. By the afternoon they seemed to be gone. I usually run the generator around 7 am and 6 pm to heat up water and run the Traeger at night. I got up this morning and I was about to fire up the generator when I saw steam coming out of a neighbor’s exhaust. I opened up the hatch to the engine room and checked the generator strainer. Sure enough it was packed with jellyfish and totally clogged. I started cleaning it out and the neighbor never came out so I could warn him. About 10 minutes later his generator stops and he comes out. He fried the impeller. Pure luck

Holy Moly! Stuffed with jellies! Always something. I've replaced my Genset impeller. Not a friendly access, that's for sure! And the pin on my spare was too big for the shaft slot. Had to use the old pin on the new impeller.

Wow, good situational awareness. I wouldn't call it luck that you put that together.

Probably old school, but I walk to the back of the boat and make sure it is pumping, do the same for the mains. Saved me one time on the generator.

Love my Phasor Genset, Impeller is nearly dead center facing the ER walkway and easy to change.

Oh yes, I look for water pumping everytime: A/C (on HU feature when away), engines, and genset starts. I have a Westerbeke genset, impeller on the rear right corner. ISO box in front and platform hydraulic pump on the floor to the right means going in backwards, legs first, then crouching in that tiny space in front of the port Racors.

I've had similar problems with those damn jellyfish also. While in Cape May one weekend, many people in the marina had their AC units shutoff due to jellies clogging the intake. Mine shut off as well. Guy next to me was telling me that he had to hire a diver twice that weekend to have them cleared. One trick that has always worked for me is to start the engines and move the transmission into reverse for a bit and then forward. Do that a couple of times and the props blow them right off the intakes. Definitely a time and cash saver. Luckily, I've never had them get into my strainers.

450 EB in Park Marina, Lake Allatoona, Acworth, GA. Don't know the owner. Spotted it as my '88 Sea Ray Sorrento 25 is couple docks over.

Looks to be well taken care of and in good shape.

Speakers in the bow rail and the arch too.

That is very cool Jack! We now have the oldest boat on record. If the numbers are correct, that is the 4th 450EB that Sea Ray produced in March of 1998. Its serial number number shows it was seven boats ahead of this 450 also built in March of 98. I wonder if we will ever find #1 off the line! I edited the first page as we continue to find more of the estimated 240 boats in the production run. 34 on the list so far.

That's very neat. I'll keep my eyes out for others, certainly more in FL.

I did a little more searching on the net and found a 450EB here on the west coast that I saw in Two Harbors a while back. When I did a search of the boat's name this article came up. Apparently GiGi LaLa had some trouble on the 4th of July in 2019: https://easyreadernews.com/boat-bea...ds-excitement-to-pier-holiday-fireworks-show/
I found the HIN number SERP4239J899 and added it to the list.

Looks like he likes window stickers as much as the beach! Don't wish that on anyone. Running gear must have taken a hit, much less the hull.
