The future of EVs? Maybe not so bad?

New Tesla Cars Fall Apart. The Company Says Drivers Are to Blame

Rolling Stone article off MSN

I do have to say they have impressive performance in certain models. I drove one in plaid mode. Holy Sheeeeet! It was fast. 0-60 under 3 seconds. Over 100 shortly after. But would I buy one, nope.

I believe you mean torque, and yes they were well aware of the issue very early on.
Agree. Obviously I follow the Tesla forum and it is a little weird. Some people end up having to get parts replaced multiple times but most people never have any issues at all. I feel like it’s a combination of driving style and quality control. These cars have a lot of torque and if you beat on them over and over, shit‘s going to break.

Getting them repaired is also a very slow precess. Body panels are not stocked and you wait weeks to get them.

Just read $60,000 to replace the battery in a Hyundai Ionic that the manufacturer would not cover under warranty. The car was considered a total loss due to the fact that the car was less than that new. Yeah EV's!

From the article:
"It will also not work out if insurers keep writing off EVs after small accidents. This planet does not have infinite resources."

So how many Ionics need to last a year beyond their entire expected life to offset the carbon foot print of one built and thrown in the garbage after one year?

You mean "Before Elon stopped toing the dumbocrat line"?
Indeed. Before Elon took over Twatter, which coordinated with the FBI, blocking content. Nothing to see here tho…..

That's interesting. When we were in Scottsdale over Christmas I had a rental from Budget. They were offering Tesla's for about half the rental rate of a similar sized gas car. I thought that was odd. But now it makes sense.

It never made sense for hertz to purchase these. Especially considering they purchased them during Covid and overpaid for them.

Saw that on the local news tonight. And they said if you run the heater it it cuts the range by another 50% or something like that

Gee, I thought all the electric vehicles were supposed to be the emergency backup power source, like when the whole grid goes down.
Ya can run them but ya can't recharge them....
But - there are supposed to be battery heaters on those cars - electric heaters......
