The future of EVs? Maybe not so bad?

Just to add...my son had a 2018 2500 Ram with a 6.4 gas engine (7200lbs empty). Tires lasted him at least 40,000 miles, one set over 50,000. He now has a 2021 2500 Ram Cummins diesel (about 8000lbs empty). He has 12,500 miles on it and his front tires were down to about 25%. Yes he rotated them at 5000 then just rotated them again at 12,000. Hard to believe that 800 extra pounds on the front end did that. And yes the tires were the same on both trucks. 20" Firestone whatever they are from the factory...lol. So with the heavier vehicle figure to go through tires at least twice as fast and at $1500 a set for his truck that will add up quick.
Quick search and there are a lot of complaints on dodge forums about premature wear on those tires. There’s also a recall from 2021. Have him look into that as he might be able to get a new set for free.

I had two post 2000 Dodge Rams purchased new and both had front tire wear issues. Both were 1500 2-wheel drive. 20K miles max on both. My Ford F150 was over 60K miles on the first set; this truck is 4-wheel drive.

Another side by side comparison. F150 Lightning vs GMC Denali 1500 6.2. Now to be fair most GM trucks come with the 5.3 so may have even got better mileage but the F150 could only go 86 miles towing a 6000lb trailer. The GM had about 230 miles of range.
Also, it took 45 minutes to get the F150 back up to 75% charge so they gave up there knowing it would take much longer to get a full charge. 75% charge cost them about $27 where they filled the GMC for about $93.But that fill on the F150 was one way I believe so would have been more like $54 in charging $$$ for the round trip.They even conceded that these electric trucks are really only good for in town if you are towing

 
There should also be a law that doesn’t allow a single company to monopolize the power grid. A grid that our tax dollars paid for and was handed over to private companies.
 
Man I would love to see my new Badlands Bronco getting delivered next. 2 weeks with this beast!!!!! Weird cause our Tesla got delivered using a diesel rig….

The charging stations are owned by private companies I believe Tesla / ChargePoint / plug share etc.
ChargePoint is by far the largest with Tesla coming in second.

So now you have to hate Pasquale Romano president/CEO of ChargePoint and not Elon Musk hahahahah

He has 2 EV's at his house and said his electric bill is $800/month. Now they didn't say how big his house was or anything but the story was about his electric vehicles and the costs. So he said he installed solar panels to provide electric. He said he paid $36,000 for the solar panels.

It’s very popular to convert VW bus’ and beetles nowadays it’s a fad
As far as his electric bill as I stated it’s around $8-$12 to “Fill up” The Tesla in NY haven’t figured out FLA bill yet and this only happens 2x a week so that’s $48 per month for 1 car so I can’t see how he spends $800 unless he lives in California?
If my math is correct he’d have to drive around 1800 miles or 6X what we do in a week and With a 300 mile range something doesn’t add up. Even if you cut that in half for 1 car

12,000 miles per year is 1,000 miles per month. Even at a low 2.5 miles per kilowatt, that would be 400 kilowatts for the month. 35 cents per kilowatt is a VERY high price for electricity and even at that rate it would only be $140 for the month.

2 cars would make that $280

Not sure where the $800 comes in.
 
My only comment is even if they give Ev’s away u won’t want one. This country doesn’t generate enough power to charge that many.
Already closed to much generation down.
My opinion just another pipe dream for the foreseeable future.
 
Like I said earlier, not sure of his electric situation. May have a 15,000 sq ft house thats all electric
 
For reference, 1000 miles a month in an EV would use around $50/mo in electricity (at 0.14 / kwh).
