The future of EVs? Maybe not so bad?

How about a 09.21 1/4 mile Tesla model S plaid? Right from the dealer Eats everything at the strip nitrous shots included hahahahahA. I love The sound of my Audi S5 coupe in dynamic mode with the exhaust open when it launches but it can’t keep up with most EV’s I think they need to have an EV only competition at the track it’s not fair to run them against an ICE car.

if it’s about charging? Here’s a supercharger map plus a ChargePoint map

I’ve owned an EV for a month now and 97% of charging has happened at my house 3% at my fathers place just to test it while we visited the other Sunday. I would’ve needed four stops at a gas station if this were an ICE. Hard to get more convenient than that.

Also, if you’re posting a link to a pay site either share your login info or cut and paste the info here, please.

Interesting read of the last 14 pages. For sure many varied opinions on the subject. For me being an old guy I am trying to get as many Hemi's in the stable before the party comes to a close the second quarter of 2023. We now have a 2022 Durango SRT on order to replace our 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. It will join our 2019 Charger Hellcat and Supercharged 2014 Dodge Challenger. I still have one more space in the garage if something else comes our way it can join the party. Long live the ICE!!
I think you need to round out the herd with a nice gen II (1966-1971) hemi!

Darn, it went right thru for me. It's the story of a WSJ editor who tried to take a road trip from New Oleans to Chicago and back. Let's just say the charging stations wheren't as advertised and what a PIA it would be to try to schedule stops to charge. Bottom line, their trip kinda sucked.

Which car did they rent?

I find that hard to believe my buddy drives his Tesla (actually it drives him) from Fla to NJ without a hiccup it even brings him to the charging station all while watching movies on their iPad I’m not saying the stations are everywhere or that we will be overwhelmed soon with EV’s and not enough stations but you could definitely drive across the country. We charge at home 99% of the time but road trips are not a big deal with 300 miles of range.

I bet they rented a bolt

That car does support fast charging. But it’s also good to point out that if you don’t pick a Tesla you cut your charge station access in half.

From Sarasota to New Orlean 711 miles does add just over 1 hour for charging stops but out of pocket cost is $41 to get there. “Mike drop” as you can see the stops are around 12 mins which is a bathroom stop or refueling stop anyway

I had dinner last night with a guy who ordered a Tesla…. He has been waiting 8 months…. He gets it in September ….. I said did you do the math on the premium you paid …. He said he didn’t give a shit … he just wants to drive by gas stations :)

If he’s been waiting since Sept. he needs to be throwing a fit. I ordered in feb and already have mine. BUT. If he ordered in September he gets to purchase the car at the price from then. Meaning he can turn around and make $8000 on it as soon as he drives it off the lot.

If you are an Audi fan....Here is a little video of my little brother (57 yo baby bro) playing around after install of new exhaust on his highly modified Audi S4 B5 (V6 bi-turbo). That was 7 years ago. Its much more aggressive now. I think he is over 800hp at this stage. You should hear it at full howl. Long live the ICE, even if the daily drivers are EVs in a few years.

5 years ago I was anti-ev. Now I'm completely electric with yard and snow equipment and have a hybrid F150. I love to hear a 14 to 1 compression big cam engine idling along. But for commuting, I'd seriously consider one.....if I was still working. I saw this make a run and it's bad fast. Even Don Garlits is playing with an electric dragster.
