The big old 80's 340 owners thread

Keith,
I was at the boat show in Baltimore a few years back and one of the local vendors was selling a refrigerator listed as a direct replacement for the Norcold DE704 (which is what I have)
It is the Vitrifrigo C115i. The C115iAC is the dual power model. I have not replaced mine since I have had other projects. Mine only runs on AC since there is something wrong with the switching board to go from AC to DC. I couldnt find a reasonable price on the board(if you can find one at all) so I just run off the genny if I'm gonna be anywhere any amount of time.

I just replaced my Norcold DE704 with an Isotherm Cruise Drink 130 fridge, 4.6 cu ft (AC/DC). Installing it wasn't too bad, just had to raise the platform 2.25" with wood, and add a bit of wood on the right side to screw down the frame. Love it so far!

I did the same fridge. I brought the outside wall in a tad to take up the room. Otherwise not to bad either. Freezer is a bit small is my wife's biggest complaint

Oh really? I got the "drink" version so I don't have a freezer section. Figured I wanted more room for beer and food. I like it so far!

Sounds like a good idea to me! I'm thinking about replacing the icemaker with a frig. Has anyone done this?

I think an owner before me replaced the ice maker under the galley sink with a trashcan and cabinet door, because that's all that's there for me.

The icemaker was a factory option. If it wasn't bought that way they came like yours.

just thought I would join the club
will probably have questions in e few weeks.

What generators have people put in w minimal issues? I had a quicksilver 6.5. I need to replace w something. I'm looking for best fit.

Keith, New floors look awesome!! :smt038

What happened to your generator? I'm trying to replace my fuel pump this weekend to get mine going again. Fittings are my issue at the moment.

Congrads Jim! I know you've been around here for a long time so I don't need to tell you about how much you'll love the 340. Does she have small blocks or big blocks? Any known issues? Fun stuff! Rob

To whomever needs to replace their Quicksilver generator fuel pump, I just replaced the fuel pump in my QS-6.5G this weekend for $64 total, and documented it in the following post:

Hopefully will help others too!
Thanks for the tip! I'll put it in my Boating Suite App. The exciter windings on my gen are shorted out, so to start making power it needs a jump start on the main windings with a external battery. I didn't set it up like that, but it works. At some point I'll get it re-wound.

06102013 022.jpgAh at last the new name06102013 023.jpg and fresh stripping 06102013 009.jpg and the re-worked props. The props were done using the Prop Scan and it worked great. I picked up 5 mph, she comes out of the hole way easier, and I get much more lift thus needed less tabs. It's like a new boat. Thanks Thomas Marine Propeller!

Oh and FYI, Steve made these props 16.5 x 16.5. They're supposed to be 17 x 17, but they weren't. The actual size was like 16 5/8 but varied between blades as did the pitch.

Looks perty Rob! Nice shine BTW....

Steve Thomas is a great guy and they do fantastic work. Highly recommended.
