Any one have any idea what the law will do to the driver other than make him pay for the damage. I assume restaurant will sue for lost revenue and if the occupants of the boat are smart they will also sue.
Does your boat card get penalized as per your drivers licence? I think in Canada a DUI on water results in lose of drivers licence. Not sure.

No, boats issues do not follow your drivers license in Florida. Well, sorta of. If you get a BUI it does not affect your license unless you then get a DUI which at that point the BUI will count as well. From what I understand he is getting a Careless Driver's type ticket.

Thats a long way up the beach to the restaurant. Even without the fog youd have to be going too fast.

Looking at that picture and realising he drove the boat into the restaurant and took part of the roof down......I have shivers going down my spine.

Truly hope the authorities show no leniancy

Friend of mine lives down there in the winter and eats at that restaurant. He said the operator has been cited before for various minor incidences.....I guess this was a major one! I use the work operator because he sure in hell is no captain! Radar is mandatory to use when installed and operational while underway all the time! I would not call his speed in fog "A power-driven vessel shall have her engines ready for immediate maneuver"!

LOL, I can assure you we're not in the same hole You would not believe the things that go on in this State. Every night we listen to the news and can't understand why these folk do this stuff. A lot of it is drug related but it makes you cry. A few weeks ago in St. Petersburg a father threw his beautiful 5 year old daughter off the Sky Way bridge to her death! We have perverts kidnapping children and burying them alive too!
That's just a couple of examples, the cruelty to pets one sees here from idiots too is just mind blowing.
One has to wonder where society is going..........and they want to legalize pot, it's bad enough now.

Around here one of the local radio morning talk shows has a game called "Florida, or anywhere else?". They read off 3 stories about complete morons doing absolutely stupid things, often times hookers or drug dealers caught doing dumb things by the police, and then ask... Florida? Or anywhere else? Oddly the anywhere else is most often Pennsylvania so if you are looking for a new place to live I would not recommend the Keystone state!
