Teaking a 420 DA

And I almost forgot...... Damn you Jim!

I hope my project comes somewhere close to yours.

just reemember all the time you spend on one piece making it right will make all the other pieces look even better and go faster. NEVER rush on a floor. even if it seems like it is taking forever. take your time and make it right. you don' t want to regret an extra 10-15 minutes for 10-15 years

Well, the project has begun! All carpet, pad and glue is up and now I need to clean up the edges of the hatches and add a small piece of decking at the step down to the mid-berth. All prep should be done tomorrow and. I start cutting wood next weekend for the extended deck and trim for the hatches. Man are my arms, hands and back sore! Here are a few progress pictures before finishing removing the old glue.mi have better pictures I am taking with my real camera and will upload those when I have a chance.

Now THAT brings back memories!!! Keep at it Ken - I am sure it will be beautiful when you're done. One thing - try to set up a miter saw, and your other cutting and shaping tools, just outside the boat and as close as possible. My knees took an absolute beating when I did mine, because I would have to get up from the floor in the cabin, up the steps, then down the ladder off the swim platform, into the house, make a cut or adjustment, then run back out and check the fit. A few hundred trips like that really add up.

Thanks for the advice Dale. I plan on having my table saw, miter saw and jig saw in the cockpit. I will tape the engine hatch and tarp the rest. This idea came from pictures from the OP. Did I mention my hands are killing me?
