Huzlers.com is a combination of real shocking news and satire news to keep its visitors in a state of disbelief.

That statement is off of their website.

They have several big dollar players (Wilson and Sherman) on rookie contracts and likely will have a bunch of SB winners now wanting to be paid. It is interesting how many I's there are on a team after a Super Bowl win. LOL The counter will be that they have another year or so left on these contracts but they cannot keep all these guys waiting for too long or they will lose them. The time to pay the piper will come soon and how they handle it will determine team chemistry.

Just look at the former champs in Baltimore this year. Couldn't even make the playoffs the next season. LOL

The Seahawks "victory parade" is happening on Wednesday through downtown Seattle. We're going over and making it an overnight trip. I'll see if I can get more than photos of busses going past and post them on here for Humph's and MM's enjoyment.

No need to thank me in advance. It's what friends do for each other! :smt043 :smt043 :smt043

Wow, another jab at the Ravens.........shocking

Just so you know, the NFL has a salary cap........one week after winning the SB last year the Ravens front office said in their state of the team presser, that they were not going to morgtgage the future to try to repeat (like after the first SB) by resigning some of the free agents, keeping Boldin, etc. We all knew they weren't making the playoffs this year.

Of course John Harbaugh would never say or believe they were not making the playoffs. Yes, you can deal with the cap in the short term, but eventually the bill will come due.

When I said WE, as was referring to alot of the fans and the comments on the Ravens forums. Basically Ozzie said there would be no restructuring of contracts because they want to remain competitive for years to come, not just to try to repeat this year. Around the 8:00 minute mark of the video explains it.

No jab intended, the criminal is now with ESPN, I never had anything against the Ravens except that. The salary cap is what makes the parity.

Oh, and just for fair warning, didn't Kelly skip out on his NCAA sanctions on his way to Philly? See I try to be consistent. Lol

I'm not buying the Ravens didn't expect to make the playoffs for a second. The Raven's front office broke the bank for perennially inconsistent Joe Flacco. Losing Boldin was huge, but Flacco's mediocre play and poor running game led to the Raven's barely missing the post season.

The team that is going to be really hurting is the Sqeelers. They have a current cap number over 140 Million and a lot of free agents not counting against that cap such as starters Brett Kiesel, Ryan Clark, Ziggy Hood, Jason Worlids, Jerricho Cotchery, and a bunch of other contributors.

What you are describing in the Ravens and Steelers, both with overpaid QB's, is the antithesis of the "new model" best illustrated by the 49'ers and Seahawks. Young cheap players like Kap and Wilson (both under a million) surrounded by key free agents. The days of ONLY $20 million QB's winning a Super Bowl seem to be past, but like all things there is a limit to the total availability of youth and speed such as the Seahawks have assembled at the moment, so that will soon be spread out a little thinner.

Can the young Seahawks bring the same level of intensity after a year of being told and treated as rock stars?

I watched part of Dan Dierdorfs retirement interview with Bryant Gumbel last night on ESPN. He had some interesting observations on how much the game has changed. Besides the obvious increase in size and speed, in his playing days, it was an exception for a player to not finish his career with one team. Thanks to free agency and the salary cap, now its common for many players to play for 4-5 teams. Asked if he could change one rule, he said he'd limit the # of substitutions per play and make it "your 11 against my 11" as the biggest change in the game he felt was all of specialization, i.e. players on the roster who are only going to play 12-13 plays a game, such as 3rd and short packages, pass rushing specialists, run stopping nose tackles, etc.

Anyway, some interesting discussion and not unlike every other team sport (such as MLB short relievers, long relievers, left handed hitter specialists, defensive players, etc). I guess when you consider the popularity of the NFL today, the state of the game today is preferred to days gone by??

He also said he was the only player on Michigan's roster above 250 lbs and the only player on St. Louis over 260. Now we have 250 lb RBs who can run 4.4s and 330 lb defensive tackles who have 40" vertical jumps.

I am quite willing to let this thread die a natural death. While the exchange it still challenging and the spirit of the thread remains there's no need to lock it.
We may just continue right up to the draft.
So what date will we pick to unlock the avatars? May 9th?

    Tim, Good post.

I think, (with saddness for a player I admire) the game has passed Peyton Manning by. The Broncos may try again but the window is closing on them and PM. The best teams will have a mobile QB and a mobile pocket like Kap, Luck, Newton, And Wilson. Pocket passers will still win games but when faced with the hot pass rush of these current defenses they will lose. The Broncos had no answer for the Seahawks pass rush, they were always in Manning's face, and that is book on how to defeat Manning.

It will be interesting to see how these teams work to stay under the cap. Seattle has to save room for Wilson and Sherman, so though it looks like they have room, it is temporary. The Broncos also have a lot of cap issues going in to the next season and $20 mil to PM doesn't leave a lot of space for others.

Just couldn't let this slide (imagine that)........Of course the front office thought they were making the playoffs, it was alot of the fans that didn't think so, that's what I've been saying all along!!!!! Personally, I think they are going undefeated and making the playoffs every year........LOL

Now, that "perennial inconsistent" QB they broke the bank for happens to have the most wins (62) by a QB since he came into the NFL in 2007........NOT INCLUDING PLAYOFFS (add 9 wins more if you want).........maybe if some teams, ***cough Bengals cough***, would upgrade to a "perennial inconsisent" QB they might eventually win a playoff game.
