Sundancer 260 Dies idling in gear

Is this raw water housing with impeller? Or thermostat housing
It’s whatever is below the thermostat housing. IE I took off the housing and looked down to what it sits on, like down into the engine. All the videos I saw, that is full of water when the housing comes off, but mine wasn’t.

Well by golly 8 think we figured it out. When I replaced the distributor cap and rotor as well as all the cables, I had an issue with the cable that went from the distributor to the ignition coil module. The old cable was stuck on the coil side and actually broke off. I had to take needle nose pliers to pull the rest of the cable out. I guess there is a post that the cable pushes on to. I didn’t have it seated all the way. So we believe that it had enough spark to start but then would cut out completely causing the computer to think it was quitting and restarting, hence the shutdown, beep, and fuel pump turning on. When I increased RPMs and it missed, it was able to catch itself and keep going.

Anyway, I haven’t taken it out in the bay yet, but I think it’s good.

Might be an ECM issue? Whipple in Fresno will diagnose it for $100 if you mail it to them. Then like $600 to fix if they can. I am going to have mine checked out if I ever get the thing to run cool again. Worst part is wife is not happy about not being able to use boat!
Looks like I’ll be going this rout. What we thought fixed it, didn’t. We’ve pretty much narrowed it down to the ECM and maybe the coil. The motor is shutting off completely and then going into restart mode at low idle.
