splash day

Nice!
I just polished mine this year buy won't get them balanced until next year. I had no vibrations last year and performance was good so it got de-prioritized to next years list. Unless ...I find some extra cash for some 4 blade props.

A little different for me since I take mine home everyday but I hope to start throwing money at the fuel tank in mid-may. I have s$%# ton of maintenance to do before then and this is my first time doing it so that may be optimistic. I guess it just depends on when I get some weekends with decent weather.

HA...!
I love the beer can in the background..
You popped open a cold one, stood there and stared at the props as you drank it.....didn't you.....I'd have done the exact same thing!
Better than anything on TV....

Nice,

I am shooting for some time in May, I have to replace risers and manifolds on both engines and have alot of other maintenance stuff that needs to be done. She didnt hit the water last season and really looking forward to getting her out there...

Had the boat in all winter but just took the cover off last week and put up the canvas. We're eager to enjoy it. We plan to pull it and paint/clean/replace nav/etc as soon as we can.

I'm already in... Actually never came out. We stayed in all winter. They'll be pulling us to clean, wash, wax and detail. Also new bottom paint and zinc will be installed too. Engines and the alike are all still winterized, maybe until this coming weekend...
Do you get winterized in your slip? Or do you have engine room heaters?

I find the debate I have with myself interesting from a cost standpoint. Here's what I mean.

So I leave the boat in. I get winterized and save the haul out cost. I can shrink wrap on the water if I want so that cost is neutral because I can wrap or not here on land too.

If I come out, the only extra cost is blocking and stands. I still haul out and back in at launch. If I stay in I haul out for bottom cleaning and maintainence then back in.

I don't know what the right answer is. That is if there is one!

I bought stands from craigslist for $300 and spent a quiet sunday at the fire station grinding, sanding, priming and painting them to look brand new, went to a local lumber yard and asked if they had any 6x6 or larger damaged lumber that i could buy cheap as it was going to get cut into blocks for a boat. $10 for 3 - 16' 6x6's that had a small twist in them and couldn't be used for columns for decks, took them home and cut the into 4' lengths to make cribbing under the keel stern and about mid cabin. so for $310 and paint I got set up to keep the boat at home for the winter. no driving to or from the marina to do any work in the winter. the closest ramp is across the river from the marina so it takes about 5 minutes to shoot across for a waiting trailer. trailering it costs about $280 each way from ramp to house but what does a travel lift cost to pull the boat? and what does renting blocks cost? and do they charge you to set them up?

Hoping to be in in April. But winter is hanging on. Just brushed 6 in. of snow off her last Tuesday.

We are splashing tomorrow!! Bottom has been painted, I changed the zincs, tune up is done, and transmission oil and filters have been changed. The marina will drop in her and run the engines to burn off the fogging oil then change out the plugs. We should be good to go. Took the day off to go to my son’s school to read to his class (pre-K) and then go to our accountant to get our taxes done. After that I will really need to get on that boat!!

Do you guys think it's a good idea to start the boat up and de-winterize it yet ? According to the weather it's not supposed to dip below 35 for the next two weeks and the water temp is around 45. Unfamiliar with inboards and all that. This is the first winter with the boat.

Hope the launch went well! We're getting the boat all ready this weekend. The car is packed and we're going down on Sunday. Can you tell I'm excited?

I'll probably wait until mid-June... No rush until the water warms up... Ours is kept in the water year round... It is winterized and shrunk wrapped in the water.... It is still great snow skiing and I am not in any rush to begin my boat projects...

We try to start boating as early as we can. Started the boat up for the first time this season Sunday. It was a great day! 60 and sunny. The cabin is spotless, but we're waiting for the water at our club to be turned on so we can wash her down. I'm ready for this season to START. :smt038

Splash is scheduled for May 10th ... assuming the 42" of ice in the bay melts by then!
