So, lets talk weather....

Set a record for the month of February yesterday. 72° I was actually outside with shorts and t-shirt on. This morning 40+ mph winds. 57° right now and in the 20's by 1 pm. Florida kind of lightning last night. It was rocking for a half hour or so

I think the Great Lakes are going to be very low water levels this summer. There‘s been very little rain or snow this winter, and none of the lakes have frozen over, which means a lot more evaporation going on. It’s hard to believe that it’s the end of February and there is no snow in southern Ontario at all. This is the view from our place on Georgian Bay this morning. No snow at all.

I haven't plowed even once this winter. The one larger snowfall I just packed down, would have started to plow after that but no snow...and no cold either. I remember going rabbit hunting at my friends hunting shack north of Mercer, WI. It was -56F on the thermometer nailed to a tree by the front door, didn't do any hunting, spent most our time drinking in Ralph Capone's bar.:)

My boat is broken, so of course it’s absolutely gorgeous in the mid 70s to low 80s most days

70 degrees on Monday, told my guy I wanted to move up my launch to “today”, he laughed said ok but I’ll be taking you out on Wednesday (20 degrees). He was right. Hoping spring eases in and come late April early May it’s time to launch.

I actually thought we had a sunnier first part last year than this year. But my solar array says different.

I pulled my driveway/sidewalk marker poles 2 weeks ago. Uncovered the patio furniture last weekend. Yeah, I'm pushing it. A year ago Monday, we were dealing with an 8 inch snowfall. Looking at the next 14 days, weather channel is showing only 1 day below our average high. I'm as thrilled as I can be with this year's winter.

OK Mid-Atlantic guys......I'm getting a serious itch to open up the boat. Get the HVAC units running, begin the Spring clean up, and prep the Fresh Water system, replace on-engine fuel filters and fire up the mains. The Cherry Blossoms in Washington DC are expected to be at peak bloom on March 23, 2024. Our yacht club is planning a cruise up to DC to get pictures of the boats in front of the cherry blossoms with the Washington Monument in the background. Pretty cool.

So, for you guys in the general vicinity, when are you considering waking up your boats?

Already to go. I have bilge and cabin heaters with temp and shore power alarms and have basically given up on winterizing since we have 70 degree days in January and February. Fired the engines and generator last week.

The only thing left to do is pull the bilge heater and change the oil/filters in the engines and generator. :)

Are you planning on stopping at Georgetown?
