So, lets talk weather....

Today is the first day the Great Lakes reached 1% ice coverage.

Last night it got down to around 10*. Right now, at 4:30 p.m. it's 15* and probably get down to around 8*-9* tonight. Match that up to our 10mph wind we're getting now and it's downright cold.

It was 8 at my house at 7am this morning Mike. The forcast is for -1 tonight, high of 9 tomorrow.
If I wasn't laid up I would be in Az right now, winter sucks.

I think we'll be dealing with flash freeze ice along with the snow. When I was out with the dog earlier, it was warmer than it's been for a while. Just hoping for the power to stay on. I ain't goin' anywhere for a couple of days. Just gonna sit back and watch....

I’ve been shoveling daily. Here’s Saturday on the deck. Then below the deck from the walkout. I’m encroaching a 6’ pile. Looking forward to the next couple of days with drifting snow and 40mph winds. :( Still having fun tho…

So the last two days I’ve spent wiring up a power transfer switch to the main breaker panel. I wired it for heat, the refrigerators and freezer as well as the internet, to run off the portable genny. We lost power last Wednesday during the heavy snow we had. With the forecasted blizzard conditions, I didn’t want to be without power to heat the home. Luckily we had a fireplace to use last week.

Well, here in "Hotlanta", the weather-pukes are calling for a high of 19 and low of 9 for Friday. Us "southern boys" ain't used to this!

Amen. Was at the boat last night checking up on the bilge heaters, adding a couple heat lamps, turned the water off and turned all the thermostats on heat.

Of course that was after I took a nice afternoon ride having the lake to myself.

For those that remember the Blizzard of '77, this is a picture (taken from a Super 8mm film reel) of my dad, older brother (red hat) and me (blue hat) standing on the frozen Ohio River. I think this was mid January 1977 in Cincinnati Oh. Behind us is the Roebling suspension bridge's south landing into Covington Ky, and a line of people walking across the river. My mom is likely behind the camera, and my two younger brothers are running around somewhere.

I'm over cold like that. Anybody got a good agent down in the Keys?

Good move Ollie, having a generator sure takes the stress out of winter power outages.
