So, lets talk weather....

It snowed all stinking day here! No buildup until later this afternoon when it began to freeze the slush to the cars, and guess who can't find their windshield scraper...
I think at one point these guys were in Idaho.
Lost track what month it was. “April is a muddy month, farmers like it, don’t feel like April “.
PS. That’s a Hawken.50 flintlock. Got one.

74 degrees in Chicago…..bout to change to winter this weekend though. Ugh :(

I’m going to attempt putting up Christmas lights today because it doesn’t look like it’s going to get any warmer within the next couple of weeks in N. WI. Snow is likely at the beginning of the week.

Ideally for me, I wish it was Summer until opening of deer season. That week can be Fall like. Then a hard freeze until the middle of March for ice fishing, snowmobiling, etc. Middle of March until the Middle of November, Summer again.

I put what outside lights I'm doing for this year earlier this week while it was still warm. I took down 2 ornamental trees this fall and haven't replaced them yet so it just some on the hedging.
As far as this Michigan weather..... I like it for barely 6 months. The rest can suck canal water...
I hear people say Christmas needs snow and cold. Nope. Warm and green was plenty fine. I'd rather be sitting next to the pool in shorts on Christmas than the snow and cold up here. Our Christmas tradition was playing 18 holes of golf on Christmas afternoon. I sure miss that.

I typically put up the Christmas lights in October. A lot of the places that I attach them to are made of plastic parts. when it is really cold out they break.

This week it was in the 70s, including Thursday. Today we got almost 3 inches

I used to like the winter, the more snow the better. We did a lot of snow shoeing, some winter camping in the brush...it all started changing in the '60's when snowmobiles became a thing. It wasn't quiet in the woods anymore and you had the obnoxious better than thee city boys in the taverns.

I was used to cold weather, my Dad was a logger for years, we'd work sometimes when it was -20-25F if the wind wasn't blowing. If you worked hard you could stay warm, even sweat. We'd start a fire to huddle around at lunch, warm up our sandwich. Your front side felt pretty good while anywhere damp on the backside was freezing solid. Oh ya, don't lick at the melting icicles on your mustache:eek:

One time a couple buddies and I went up to the hunting shack north of Mercer to rabbit hunt. We were up all night one night just trying to keep wood in the old pot belly stove, -50 something below that night, trees were popping like crazy. Didn't do any hunting, spent all our time drinking in Ralph Capones tavern listening to the locals tell stories about the gangsters that used to frequent the north woods.

My work bud grew up in International Falls, Minnesota, which, if you didn't know, was the basis for "Frostbite Falls" of Bullwinkle fame. The running joke is "You have two seasons in Minnesota; Winter, and one month of bad sledding."

BBRRAAAAAPP!!!

I don’t own one and don’t think I ever will, but have rented a few times in the UP. I’d like a wheeler to get out on the ice and maybe run into town for fun in the warmer months.

There’s some hiking trails behind our place and we discussed getting snow shoes, we may check that out.
