Smok'n Hot 55 DA

You are all missing the basic point - Where did the woman in the bikni go? That is what I would have saved, forget the boat. I bet she is now looking for another sugar daddy. Time to move in.

You read my mind!

Not carharts....... thermal barrier on the outside, vapor barrier under.. Very hot, it's actually a sticky wickett, as you should never wear structural fire gear on or near water since it does not float but being in close proximity to that amount of burning fiberglass will make things quite uncomfortable very quickly.. I'd be more concerned as a Company Officer about their lack of breathing apparatus..

But the guy driving the 'fire boat' is wearing a T-shirt!!!!

Actually, the part of this that impressed me (beyond the boat babe) was the firefighters didn't sink the boat to put the fire out. Sinking the boat seems to be standard practice when there is a fire on board to avoid flareups and explosions. Of course, the resulting fuel spill and salvage doesn't make it any better.

I'm interested in what caused the fire. Specifically, I'm interested if he had the gen running and the a/c on in the cabin. There were a few models who had wiring issues with one of the stateroom a/c units that caused fires to occur. The fact they didn't sink her hopefully should help the fire investigation.

I edited my original post to remove the comments that I realized just weren't relevant in the context of this thread. It was an error in judgment and although it comes up and is talked about around here, it had no place here.

That part is still quoted in the thread, in Franks post but as sometimes said in a court, that'll be stricken from the record.

From a DAL buddy who knows the boat, owner & was there...the rumor on the lake is SR has replaced the boat (what was 1st reported as a loaner) due to known electrial problem that MM had signed off three times. Nobody at MM is talking publicly.

HA! I guess that marina will think twice about blowing off customer complaints/problems.

Wasn't out there when it happened, but I was getting text messages while the whole ordeal was going on. Like the news report said, he was about to tie up when the flames started, so I doubt he was already shooting off fireworks.

I highly doubt Marine Max blew him or the boat off, but I'm sure MM and Searay both will be looking into why and how it happened after it being touched by them.

I thought it was pretty ironic that in this months Yachting magazine there was an article about preventing boat fires. On the opposite page was SR's advertisement for the 55 Sundancer that looked just like the one that burned...
