Slip rental fee for 2010

$7K for 6 months - 40'

Now I just need a boat.....:smt017

C-Side - You are getting off cheap. I pay $4,200 for my 42' slip. You must be on the other side of the bridge from us. We have a freshwater pool, hot tub, nice clean shower house, and you can't beat the grassy area down the middle of the peninsulas separating the north and south sides of the slips.

I save Scott's gas money by walking to dinner.

You guys are WAY overpaying in New Buffalo. 41' slip on E dock in the moorings 2450.00 per season.

A little tip.... Find somebody who is selling their slip and offer to rent it from them for said price. 2500 is what the owners have to pay per year for association fees and everything so they are usually glad to break even if the slip is just sitting there.

Do a little legwork and it pays off!

In the past, I would be too worried about renewing the slip for the next year to do what Carver 370 is suggesting. But, seeing that there are open slips all over, I guess it couldn't do any harm to shop around. (I always lost when I played musical chairs, and would hate to have that happen with a slip)

There are plenty of people in the Marina looking to rent to people like myself and I always find a slip on the dock I want to be on, which may mean paying a little more sometimes but in the past 6 years I have moved 2 times within 6 slips from each other. Works for me!

$450/year for 10'x24' covered slip with free water & electric. 12 month use. Located at a private club w/ clubhouse/bar/banquet hall/outdoor pavilion w/ grills & playground.
I own the air lift. 15-minutes from home. Life's good!

Carver 370 -

I know. Problem is that we have wonderful neighbors at our end, and the slip on our port side is always empty. The owner has several slips up the lake and keeps it open if he every wants to use it. That has happened only 2-3x in 8 years. This lets me get our waverunner up front on the seawall.

$365 per month for 40'x12' slip includes electric, water and pumpouts. Locked gate on docks, clean bathrooms/showers, grills and shaded picnic area, clubhouse available for rent for small fee, marina store and mechanic on premises.

$87/ft and $450 for electricity for the summer. Seems to go up every year.

Hudson River, Newburgh NY, $85.00 per foot water and electric included, showers and bathrooms, 8 restaurants within walking distance, New owners this year same rates as last year. Free pumpouts but no fuel.

We keep Nut & Honey at Captain's Quarters Dry Stak in LeClaire, IA (Pool 14) year round. Our 30 footer ran just under $2500 for this coming season. It went up about $60 over last year. Amenities: shower & bathrooms, gas dock, and a new pumpout. All of their in the water slips are rented out, so it is very hard to leave your boat in the water for very long. My winterization and shrink wrap was around $1550. The do take good care of her. Top notch mechanics available 6 days out of the week and Sunday if needed to get someone back on the water.

My slip fee is $3,000 for a 50' slip and heated storage charge is $3,700. My new marina requires a 1 year contract that includes both. When I contracted for my slip for this year last October, it was one of 3 available and the most expensive. However, it is 50' from the shower and bathroom, includes electric, satellite TV (33 channels), WiFi, and a fresh water pool is available for $300. There is a restaurant and a paver brick sidewalk around all the slips that people can put gas grills, lawn furniture and dock boxes.

This may or may not be unusual, but this marina along with my previous one were full service including sales and brokering. As a result of the latter, both had provisions in the dockage agreement that required anyone selling their boat without their involvement to pay them 10% of the sale price. My previous marina tried to get me to pay them $4K inorder to get a slip for this year because I bought my Sea Ray elsewhere, which is one of the primary reasons I left.

So........if you sell your boat to your next door neighbor and he or she moves it to a new location, your marina figures you owe them 10%? I'd like to see them try to collect that. What did they do to earn the money? Some people should plain and simply not be in business.

I wonder how many people actually paid that 10%:smt043:smt043:smt043:smt043

I wouldn't dock there just on principle - what a bunch of theives, it must be run by a politician

Yeah,
I thought that it was a crock too which is why I left. They tried to give me the line that they used their dockage as a sales tool which is why they did this. When I told them thanks but no thanks, I got a call first from my salesman saying I was welcome to come back with no fee as long as didn't tell anyone I bought the boat elsewhere. Then I got a call 2 weeks later from the habormaster telling me I was welcome to come back. Then finally, after sending them an email complaining about the worn coupler on the boat they sold me that I had to replace as part of the trade on the Sea Ray, the owner of the marina called, reiterating that they really would like me to return next year. So when my wife and I saw saw them at the Chicago Boat Show at the Cruisers exhibit, we did not want to even go over and say hello or go through their boats.

As far as my new marina, I heard from my surveyor who lives very close by that they went to court suing someone for a commision and the judge threw the case out. I told them, before signing the dockage agreement that I would not pay them any fees for brokerage not performed and he begrudingly said just have the person take possession outside the marina.

I don't think they would even think of pulling this crap in New Jersey...the mob has too high ethical standards!! :smt043

Liberal politicians that are pissed off that not everybody has a boat.

I recived a call yesterday from sebawaing marina and they informed me my dock that cost 400 last season went up to 850 this season .Their season is two weeks short on each end from all other michigan marinas i know of ,the operators are great people though ,the decision on pricing was made by ....the municipality or harbor commisssion as its called (government). These fees include water(not that i even liked to wash my boat with )nice clean showers house ,floating docks and a bait shop/store.It is a quaint little town(boooooring)but nice for families and fishermen.
Last fall i bought a slip in bay city at sunset shores yacht club for 3500.00 ,my annual fees will be between 200.00 and 600.00 depending on dredging needs. We have two nice clean shower facilities ,gas grills ,picknic tables, grassy areas ,locking electric gates, party room, portable pumpouts, laundry rooms, good water and electric included .We are also the first chanel in the mouth of the saginaw river so it is a quick trip to get in the bay.

$2,100 for indoor, year round storage. Unlimited ins and outs with courtesy dock. The dock has 8 12' x 30' slips and 16 10' x 25' slips. The 18' bass boats like to use the big slips, so I get plenty of practice shoving my 9' beam into a 10' slip with 4' of boat hanging out - that part is free.
