Maybe I'm a complete idiot, but I never have any success with the search feature. Everytime I am looking for something, over 200 matches come back. Is there a way to search only the subject lines and not the whole body of each post?

BTW, I would have searched for this question, but I couldn't find it. :smt021

yea props down for the search feature.. its bad.

Brent,

The search feature is only as good as the information that is on the board. This is the main reason, you always hear me complaining when people get off topic. I personally have success with the search feature but that is usually because I am looking for something I remember reading. It helps if you have multiple words to use and can click the all words must be in post.

Don't forget the instructions I will copy below. I tried various searches using them and not using them. When using them i get a few threads, when not using them I get hundreds:

Instructions:
You can use AND to define words which must be in the results, OR to define words which may be in the result and NOT to define words which should not be in the result. Use * as a wildcard for partial matches

I still don't think everyone is clear on my question. Whether it is possible here or not, I would like to be able to search the subject only, not the message body in the threads. I don't believe you can currently only search the subjects. I know at the old SRO site you could and at other sites you can, but this one you can not. I'd prefer to not start a new topic, if one has already been created in the past. If it is not possible, no big deal, I may be the only one with this problem.

It would require special programming so it won't happen anytime soon. Anything in the subject should also be in the message body as long as it is an accurate subject, so I guess I'm not seeing the issue.

The best forums I've even been too (which do actually look similiar to this one), use this software:

http://www.ubbcentral.com/

Maybe instead of trying to customize this software, which is probably not even possible, just upgrade to a different software package all together.
