Savannah Ga top picks

Nicky why are you complaining about the heat if you have a/c??? My gosh are we getting a little fickle in our old age?

Dock at the Westin and go over to the River Street side to the Chart house on the free ferry. The Westin dockage are floating and well trimmed out to protect the fisihs on your boat. Go on Priceline.com and see if you can land one of their three buck per night rooms at a bargain basement price. They are hurting for business and August ain't exactly "high season" in Savannah.

Cool! Thanks. I will check that out.

You guys make me laugh so hard!

SeaRay Jay...finally we will know whom we are talking to! And yea...fill out your signature line, you've been here long enough to know about that! LOL.

Nicky your such a thoughtful man. And I read about your heroic (is that a word?) effort! Good on ya'll.

Kes the knee was blown out riding my Harley one day in the rain. I didn't wipe out the bike but the knee suffered. Anyways, had some surgery to fix it. Yes I sold the bike, because now I'm chicken to ride it. lol.

I'll look into my busy schedule and see if the dates work out for me. I'd like to be one of the boats at the dock.

Smart man! Cant be graphic enough to tell about so many mangled bodies I see in hospital beds or later in therapy from bike accidents. And almost all are nonnegligent on the part of the biker. They just arent worth it in my opinion. You got it on the dock space. Hopefully it will work out.

Come on down boys, the water is fine down here in good ole Savannah! My suggestion would be for you to make a pit stop at the Dafuskie Crab Company first. Not sure if you guys are familiar with Daufuskie, but it is really a neat place and the Crab Company or Marshside Mama's is a place that you will always remember. You need to experience it yourself. Then come on down to the Westin, and usually dockage is free if you stay the night, or float over to the River Street side and they usually do not charge there and stay the night. We have had some great times on the boat on riverstreet. There are many places to eat, ( Ruth's Chris, Vic's on the River, Wild Wing, you name it and it is probably there), it just depends on what you are feeling. There is nothing like some Vinnie Van Go-Go's pizza and a Wet Willy Frozen drink. Only get the Call a Cab if you plan on staying for awhile! I would love to meet you guys down there. Please keep me in mind when you guys are down here. I will unfortunately be in Vegas Aug 8-13, but if you guys are here until the 15th, I would love to see you guys down here.

Thanks Chris. Those tips sound good. Really intterested in Daufuskie. Can you give me a landmark for the Crab Co and for the day docking along River St. Westin is advertising 189 a night. We can get Hampton for 101 or 118 on the River st side.

I will try to get you a screen capture for Daufuskie. They are both on the East side of the island and both have public docks. Don't get me wrong, Marsh Side Mamma's is going to be the worst hole in the wall, but it is a place you need to experience. The old pig that used to live under the flooring finally died from too much beer exposure. I'm not kidding. I am surprised the Westin is charging that much, definately try somewhere else. Perhaps the new Bohemian Hotel that just opened up this month, and they are right off River Street.

Kes, how long is the boat ride from Beaufort to Savannah? Seems like it was a fairly long ride the one time I did it. I might be able to make it. Think we're back by the 8th.

Sadler, I am not sure how far it is. Looks about the same distance as Chas to Beaufort to me. Maybe someone here can help us with that. If we go, it will be Sat afternoon(8th) or Sun leaving Beaufort if others want to join in. Otherwise, since we are there on a week rental, if we are alone, we may settle in first then go during the week. Have not figured out the logistics yet. Yes, Zeppi I would like it to work as a group thing but just stay posted. And thanks Chris again for the additional input.

Based on a rough route I've laid out it's about 48 Miles Beaufort to Savannah. I had 75 Miles for the Charleston to Beaufort run.
