Savannah Ga top picks

You know me I'm always dreaming about the next trip. I've laid out a Charleston to St. Simons run that I keep tweaking from time to time. One of these days I'm going to make it.

Based on a rough route I've laid out it's about 48 Miles Beaufort to Savannah. I had 75 Miles for the Charleston to Beaufort run.

Chuck it looks like you mapped to Thunderbolt which is on the ICW, but if they are going to the Westin or River Street area they need to run up the Savannah river to the red dot on your map that says Savannah, may increase the distance a little.

This link will take you to a view of the Westin and the Hyatt Regency Savannah Hotel. The big white building you see is the Savannah River International Trade and Convention Center, the Westin is right side of the center the across the river and just slightly to the West is the Hyatt. If anyone is a Paula Dean fan her restaurant is fairly close. There are quite a few motels up on Bay Street that are probably better price then the Hyatt. Where it says W River Street and W Lower Factors Walk, the Hyatt is the Brown/Tan building.

Yep Nolan you are correct. It is part (1 leg) of my bigger trip(Charleston to St. Simons), but it should be about the same distance.

I realized that when I started looking at the maps, I thought it was further up river than it is.

You are just going to have to boot the market so you can make some sales and make that trip.

Thanks

X 2 for the Chart House, I managed the place in the early 90's and it is still a great place to eat. They have really made it easier to dock on River Street since then, but beware the commercial traffic that can churn up the water. Set your dock lines well and use extra fenders.

We now have a house on the south side in the Landings, (Skidaway Island) and are members of the Landings Yacht Club. If you would like a transient slip, let me know and I will be happy to see what we can do...

Wish we could use our boat on the coast more and more...

Is this another adventure that's open to everyone?

Anyone can join in, with your boat, depending on conditions, you probably would want to follow one of the larger boats across the sounds and open waters, it can get rough and it would be difficult for you to keep up.

Yeh, it wasn't a lack of speed we had issues with. I'd say we took some 4-5 foot waves that day. Not a drop got in the boat though. Of course we had Kes to thank for taking the really big waves as we rode in the wake of sweetdreams. We could make the trip over the weekend of the 8th. We could drive down friday night, then launch somewhere sat morning, stay in Savannah or somewhere else.

No Greg's tough. :smt038 As I said, we are there all week, so we are flexible. Anyone else interested, let us know whe you are free. Mike, Paul, Nicky? Sadler's out. :smt089

We will try to join the fun for the week end(depending on work). We will keep in touch through out the week, and try to catch up.

We are intersted. I have to get my child settled at CofC first. Jane talked about towing the boat down to Beaufort and launching there. Ya'll plan away. We will see what dates get picked.

I may try to meet up with you in Savannah, I'll drive my car to town. I live South of Savannah in Midway and work in the Savannah area, would probably meet you at the dock area. I will be in Bristol Tn the 20th thru 23rd for the race, got tickets to the night race Friday and Saturday. So will see when this happens to know if I get there or not.

Look's like another gathering comeing together. Paul, tell Jane to put the cake in the cooler so the iceing will still be in tac.

Ok how bout leaving Beaufort around 10ish Sat morn? Who's in? Jay and I are contemplating overnighting at downtown Beaufort Fri night and could be ready to take off that morn. If that does not work out, we could still trailer down and put in there at launch time.

Looks like we will no longer be needing a hotel room if all goes well. So now...how about an anchor spot recommendation near Savannah?
