Savannah Ga top picks

Any recommendations for restraunts, slips, hotels or B&B for a one night trip from Beaufort in Aug?

We have made the trip through Savannah a few times and have stayed at Thunderbolt Marina most of those times. Great people, great location, great view of the icw. There is a restaurant within walking distance that was outstanding. Probably the best place to be if you are in Savannah. If you are a gear-head like me then you will love the dry-dock facilities of Thunderbolt Marina. The yard is always full of mega-yachts undergoing repair.

No hotter than it was in Georgetown! Are you fellas sayin you're too old to tough it out? Thats the best time to play in the water anyway. So come on...unless you scared.

I know its prob going to be unbearably hot-dog days, and we contemplated trying to change our rental dates for the cottage. But when we went in May, the air was great but it was too cool to swim. Open time on the rental calendar puts us changing to this fall or early spring next year. Middle of next summer is just too far away to think about. So, I guess we will just suck it up and go. Savannah is a trip we want to make, so we do it NOW while we CAN.

Cool, how many will it sleep? So your inviting the whole Caroline gang to bunk with you. You're great people.(Grin)

I suggest river Street for sure. Nice coblestone walks, River House Seafood is good as well.

I remember once in Savannah many years ago walking along River St. and seeing the Forbes "Capitalist Tool" yacht. Harleys and Helicopters were in plain view on the decks. Those were some certainly good days for the Forbes family.

How far would it be to travel by boat from Edisto, to Beaufort, then to Savannah. I think Hilton Head is in the route somewhere. Who knows might work it out, even though it WILL BE HOT!:smt001
