Run to the sun!?!?

Shaun,

That's exciting news!! I wish you and your wife the best of luck. As I sit here in 15 degree weather I'd be lying if I said I wasn't more than a little jealous!!

Good new's Shaun, We're having a bit of a cold front here today, low's in the 40's but hey, it's gonna be 74 here today!!

If your boat is a freshwater boat, I would sell it in MI, that is if you think that you might sell it anytime soon. Once you put it on the hauler toward FL it will be a Saltwater boat forever, even if you only ever use it in FL lakes. No one will ever believe it, even if it is true.

I appreciate your input. If you get bored and want some reading material, check out the official Weekender/Sundancer 80's 300 thread I started. In that thread you will see we have done a bunch to our boat in the recent past and I think, for now anyways, we want to get a few years of enjoyment out of the work we've done. We did put a LOT of thought into bringing our boat vs getting one there. Another big factor I thought is that anything I get there will already have years of UV and salt water wear on it so it would be very hard to get a boat in similar condition for the investment we have in ours. I think overall even if we only keep ours for a couple years before upgrading it will still be worthwhile to bring down there and enjoy some of our improvements for a while.

Don't let anyone sway your thoughts Shaun. Saltwater boating is the only way to go and as long as you maintain and clean your SW boat it will still look good. We just get to boat anywhere we want instaed of being stuck in a lake type environment. Good luck with the potential move.

Here in Michigan, we have some pretty big lake type enviroments. Just sayin! LOL

No worries dude, My only point was you cant go back once that hauler crosses the FL border. I also agree that if you love your freshwater (for now) there's no reason not to keep it.

Not trying to sway anyone, I would not boat anywhere else. Fresh water is for making ice cubes, that go in the brown juice. :smt038

Unless you trailer your boat, then you can go anywhere, and I LOVE that perk.

Boaters on the Great Lakes can boat anywhere as well. Not all fresh water is created equal.

I was trailerin my boat along the dusty Winnemucca road,
When along came a semi with a high an' canvas-covered boat.
"If you're goin' to Winnemucca, Mack, with me you can ride."
And so I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside.
He asked me if I'd seen a lake with so much water and sand.
And I said, "Listen man, I've traveled every waterway in this here land!"

I've been to Cass Lake, Torch Lake, Glen Lake, Long Lake, Union Lake, Whamplers Lake, White Lake, Cooley Lake, Hubbard Lake, Pontiac Lake, Maceaday Lake, Lotus Lake, Oxbow Lake, Williams Lake, Gaylanta Lake, Elizabeth Lake, Twin Lakes, Upper Straits, Lower Straits, Middle Straits, Michigan, Erie, Huron, Superior, St. Clair, Atlantic, Gulf, Intercostals.....I've been everywhere!

I hear ya Tim, One trip I'm on the west coast (FL), next East coast, and some awesome fresh water boating on St Johns river, then headed to the Bahamas for a second trip. :) When/If I do an upgrade I'm gonna miss being able to put it behind the truck and go somewhere I've never been.

Crap, now we need to open the old "Bowrider to Bimini" discussion. But that was so 2010....now they have Jet Ski's that make the trip. LOL
