Roll call for MN boaters

Not from MN, but I have been up in your neck of the woods, just not in the last couple of years...beautiful area. We cruise a little farther south, mostly from Winona, MN to Lansing, IA. Gives us about a 60 mile stretch to play with. Planning to head back up to the St. Croix next year is time allows.

We spend most of our time between locks 3 and 4. Fewer boats and Lake Pepin is nice.

Howdy
Slipped in Stillwater usually make it to T.I. a couple of times a year but spend most of the time in the Hudson no wake.
Late start but the weekends have been plenty warm!

Hello,

We're from Stillwater and keep the boat at Bayport, spent most of our time in Hudson bay. Do a couple trips to Red Wing or TI each summer. Spent just about every weekend on the boat do to our short season.

When we get up there, which isn't enough, Pelican Lake just south of Detroit Lakes - Fair Hills resort. You all have some beautiful country up there.

From Rogers and travel to the river almost every weekend. As long as I have Minnesota river rats on here. I have a camping trip coming up this weekend with two other couples and have a few questions. On the st croix is there anywhere we can pitch a tent? I know you cannot on Kinney but I am not sure about beercan. On the Mississippi is there a good place to pitch a couple tents off on an island somewhere between Prescot and Treasure Island?

Thanks,
Chris

Your best bet would be the islands in the Hudson no wake zone (Beer can island). These island are a free for all so get there early to stake your claim.

Also be aware it can get to be a zoo there, sometimes a lot of all night partying and lots of people around. On nice weekends there will be no more room for boats to pull up by Friday night. No rules there, anything pretty much goes.

I don't know of any good camp spots on the Miss. The only place I will stop is at a marina.

We're from Elk River, and have a slip at Treasure Island.

We've spent the last two seasons on the St. Croix up by Stillwater, but discovered TI, Red Wing, and Lake Pepin this year. Less crowded so there are more areas to beach and hang out.

You can camp on any island on the St. Croix north of Stilwater as well. A lot quieter than Hudson since the beach areas are smaller and the larger boats can't get up there.

Nice looking ride, It looks like Bayport Marina? If I can help you with anything let me know.
We stay south of lock 3 most of the time.
Is Summer still running the place at TI?

Yes it was Bayport. This was where we bough the boat.
Summer is still taking care of the Marina. Are you downtown or south of town. We checked into them and decided TI would work. Will look for you on the water next Spring.

We have stayed at TI many times; and Summer has always been great to work with.
We are downtown, but we spend most of our time in Lake Pepin and south to Trempealeau.
Look forward to seeing that good looking boat next spring.

I have never met Summer in person. I have talked with her on the phone a lot. She is great to work with. TI and she were highly recommended by a lot of individuals that I talked with. Nothing wrong with downtown Red Wing either. I do not know where we will be spending our time. I am new to the area so will spend time exploring. I do have a relative that has a boat in Hastings. It seemed a little far for us to go, so we looked closer to home.
We will look forward to seeing you some time this summer. I plan on spending a lot of time on the water.

Summer was one of the main reasons we descided to stay at TI after renting a transient slip for a couple of nights. My wife likes the Friday night bingo (maybe a bit too much...)

Are you looking at A dock? We're in A-8 next year.
