Roll call for MN boaters

Nice to hear from the homeland. Does this count?

Grew up in Rochester, and cruised Lake Zumbro and the Mississippi south of Wabasha (my parents had a cabin there) Pepin, etc. The morning "glass" on the Mississippi backwaters was exceptional for skiing. Married on the Island Girl on the Mississippi, just outside of La Crosse. Moved to Mankato for college, and bought our first boat ('95 Sea Ray 175). Spent too much time on Lake Washington.

Now, we live in Phoenix (the lakes here suck) and keep our boat in San Diego. We spend our time on the San Diego Bay, and the Pacific just past Point Loma.

Summer was one of the main reasons we descided to stay at TI after renting a transient slip for a couple of nights. My wife likes the Friday night bingo (maybe a bit too much...)

Are you looking at A dock? We're in A-8 next year.

Summer has not told me what slip is available. Is A dock busy with a lot of foot traffic. We would like something with a little less foot traffic. Either A dock or B dock would be nice. If both are offered I would most likely choose A dock near the gas dock.
Summer seems to have a great reputation. Everyone I have talked to me says she is the greatest.
Will look you up next spring.

A-dock foot traffic isn't bad if you are down past TI's Skipperliner "Spirit of the Water" (about A-10 or higher). Otherwise you get cruise passenger traffic a 1-2 times a day on the weekends (about 20-50 people filing onboard for 15 minutes each time). Beyond that, there is acctually very little traffic since there are fewer boats on A-dock (only one side has slips). I'm right across from the Skipperliner, but I dock bow-in and don't really notice the traffic. When the cruise boat does leave I'm rewarded with a great view of Sturgeon lake and the marina's beach.

Will keep that in mind when I get my slip. I look forward to meeting you in person next Spring. Thanks for your help

Late check in here from Hastings. Definitely agree, Summer is great . . . we have stayed at TI many times. Everything is great about the St. Croix and Mighty Mississippi except that darn season is too short. Anyway, it's March now and near 50 today so we're getting excited!

Great to find this thread! We're about to take delivery (April 18th) of our new 260DA. Our first cruiser. She'll be at Windmill in Afton. Planning on spending nearly every weekend on the river.
We'll make a trip to Winona before the summer's gone. Can anyone recommend a good place to spend the night on the hook between Afton and Winona?

You will love the Croix. We are in Prescott. From Afton, north to Hudson no wake is great. South about 5 miles to Kinni island, (beach the boat) is great as well. PM me if you need more info.

Steve,
As Jim notes the Croix has a lot of great spots to beach or spend the night on the hook. If you're planning to take the Mississippi downstream to Winona, don't miss spending a night on Lake Pepin. Plenty of great marinas, Lake City, MN, Pepin, WI and Wabasha, MN are great little marina towns with great night life. The bluffs and scenery are fantastic too!

What about a SeaRay get together on the Croix/Mississippi? We went to the Hudson Aquapalooza last year and it was a blast. Will plan to be there this year as well. I believe it is July 18th.

Sounds good to me! We're looking forward to making new friends. Is there a place to watch fireworks on the 4th from the water?

It's rare that we're not on the Mississippi or the Croix. We slip 2 miles from Prescott . . . keep us apprised as to the exact date. My calendar says that we're open that weekend (so far). Nothing better than meeting other boaters (especially fellow Sea Ray owners)!!!

Thanks Andy, often Lake Pepin serves as an accumulator until it is filled, then we see high water for quite awhile down here. This weekend weather doesn't sound too good for an already soaked watershed.

Stillwater bay for the 4th. Lots of folks stay out on the hook for the night.
