On the subject of holding tanks - Will odor permeate through a holding tank as it does the hoses as they age?. Other than a leak - is there ever a reason to replace a holding tank?. Paul

Found a way to repair holding tank. Leaks are due to the imbedded bolts in the bottom of the tank. I drilled a 1" inch hole thru the center of the bolt in the tank. The floor off the tank is about 1/2 inch thick. I inserted a 1" rubber drain plug with marine tech on the plug . I did it to all 4 corners. I sol aced a 1/2 mat under the tank to elevate the oplugs from touching the floor. Keeping the pressure off the plugs, after adding 28 gallons of water, I let it sit for 2 days and no more leaks. Total cost off repairs 60.00 versus 750 for a new tank. If you have a leak try this before spending your fuel money on a new tank. It works
He said that he drilled out the bolts. I'm confused, but my brain still isn't thawed out with all of this weather that we have been having lately.
And what is it the bolts are originally there for? And does the threaded end of the bolt stick out of the tank or inside the tank?
