I'm looking for ideas on how to mount rear view mirrors on the bridge of my 400 Sedan Bridge (1997). Any suggestions? Pics would be appreciated. Mirror recommendations?

May I ask why you want to do this? I would think that for a mirror/mirrors to be big enough to offer any utility on that sized boat, it/they would have to be awfully big. And therefore kinda, well, ugly.

I think having a set of these hanging off the side of the bridge would be sweeeeeet!

You may want to look for the ones that automatically dim when some jerk comes up behind you with his/her bright lights on at night. That always pisses me off...

Not to hijack this thread, but I'm also thinking of adding some headlights and turn signals to my bridge boat. Any pictures/suggestions would be welcome.

I use to have wakeboard mirrors (5X14) on my ski boat that provided a wide field of view. They were mounted from the side top rail but not sure how you would mount on your boat.

Integrate.....Think integration......

(Not to steal the thread) How about some water flaps on the water discharges. Mud flaps sure look cool on my ferrari.

Why you getting tired of doing the legacy hand left turn/right turn method with you arm? I understand it may be hard to do at night, maybe some chemical nights sticks would help along with repeated arm motioning. :smt043:smt043:smt043

Bet the OP is sorry he asked!

Seriously, a trailer hitch on the swim platform would make a great way to tow your dinghy.

Probably could find all kinds of aftermarket stuff for your boat here: http://www.jcwhitney.com/

Fenders....Who needs fenders?..put a set of these on the side of the hull.....

No...they're not curb feelers....they are 'Dock-feelers'......

You guys are merciless,

and, it is obvious you have never tried to back a 400DB into a slip. The stern is completely hidden and you can't see $*** from the helm.

For the original poster, try opening the bridge access hatch. You can lean over and see the post stern corner that way, lay the corner on a piling and pivot into the slip.

Your best bet is to mount a camera and hook it up to your chart plotter.

You have some of these sexy accessories on your boat... don't you?

Agree with Frank, but you don't always have to pivot (I have docked this boat before and it does have tough sight lines)... IF you know the slip is wide enough for the boat (note use of the word IF) then, by definition, if you get the aft port corner as close as possible to the piling, you won't have to worry about the starboard side. You can do that without pivoting.

Also, in many cases, you can see the tops of the pilings on the starboard side. Assuming that the piling is vertical, you can use that as a visual guide as well.

All bridge boat owners have the same problem.....I can only see the port quarter......A camara would work, but this is what I do....

It is all about the feel......I open her up (transom door), I line myself up, before I slowly move myself into her (the dock), I stay as tight as I can (port side of the dock), continue to move in slowly so I dont bang anything (boat) and when I am just about to be in all the way (stern to dock)...........I pull out quick (quick thrust forward with my throttle for 1/2 a second).......Then I am done and I turn her off (boat).........You guys are so gross!!

It might be preferred to move (the boat) in and out (of the slip) at least a few times before you finish.
