I spend most of my time on the hook in a very popular anchorage off the main channel of the Mississippi. On weekends, there might be 50 to 70 boats anchored in this approx. 500 yd. by 800 yd. inactive sand and gravel pit.

On weekends, the "necked people" raft up in one corner. Anywhere from three to eight boatloads. I don't mind it, even when they get what some might call "vulgar". OK, vulgar. They certainly are having more fun than I am so maybe I'm jealous!

Unsuspecting families are likely to get an eyefull and therein lies the dilema. I don't believe in doing anything that is likely to offend anyone even though some folks are easily offended.

Like I said, they don't bother me. I can always watch or look the other way. If the grandsons are on board, we anchor in the opposite corner where there's usually lots of other kids making noise.
What do the rest of you think?

1. It's OK to be nude on the water when other boats are around. Let 'em look the other way;

2. It's OK as long as you're discreet, especially when kids are around.

3. Keep your clothes on or go below deck!

Gotta go. My binoculars are fogging up.

Interesting subject. Ill go with #2. And btw, do you have the GPS coords of this raft up, and do I need to RSVP or just show up?

My boat is in Croatia in northern Istria, where approximately 50% of the boaters sail nude. (Mostly Germans). It is not something I do personally, but you get used to it.

No nudie boating. Who wants sunburn there? Besides public nudity is generally illegal everywhere, including on the water. Just ask the local water-cops.

Best regards,
Frank

Tall females between the age of 19 to 28, and under 140 lbs, blond hair and long legs are welcome. All others keep your clothes on! I had my eyes melt from the sockets one afternoon at Fairlee Creek and not because of the top line either.:smt009

Does vulgar mean cussing? Or does it mean they're shakin their money maker(s)?
If I had a young-un, I'd be looking for a new place to drop anchor.

I would say it is OK if it were able to be known that the area was clothing optional. (That way, families and others who are easy offended (read uptight) could avoid the area if desired.) I think we Americans are generally too uptight about nudity and the human body anyway. So I guess my vote is closest to #2. I think the people that go to events/places where they know they will be offended just to use the lines, "It is my right to be here/it is a free country/etc.," should be flogged extensively. I think it is their right just as it is the right of those wishing to bare it all.

Anyway, what were those coordinates? I should really check it out to see how "bad" it is so I can ensure my decision is an informed one.

:smt043who wants to oil my back...you will have a hard time around beautiful women:/

and there are limits to what I want to see floating(-)

there should be a warning bouy :smt101

Only when completely alone (all participants, that is) or only after dark with no children around. We'll usually turn the swim platform lights off too, but not always. After a few drinks, it doesn't really matter because we're invisible, right?

I have a 2 year old boy and trust me you don't want to be naked around kids. They'll point to your frank and beans and yell "I SEE YOUR PEE PEE". Or if you're a women they'll just look real confused.

My opinion...

1. At night OR
2. In water OR
3. Far from other boats

Isn't there some sort of flag that you need to fly when necked?

John, you may want to turn of the underwater lights, it may attract some of these guys…..

candiru2.jpg

It seems that the tiny, slender catfish cannot always distinguish a urinating human from an exhaling fish gill, and on occasion it will attempt its trademark high-speed attack on some unfortunate soul.
Silvio Barbossa was one such soul. He was swimming in the Amazon River when he went head to head with the tiny parasite:
“I felt like urinating. I stood up, and it was then it attacked me. The candirú attacked me. [...] When I saw it, I was terrified. I grabbed it quickly so it couldn’t go deeper inside. I could only see the end of its tail flapping. I tried to grab it, but it slipped away from me and went in. [...] I was very afraid, because the candirú bites.”

Cut and paste recycling...

I'll go with #2...this is so why I'm looking for a boat...I need new friends with no tan lines
Big chubby girls usually have no tan lines.
Now you can spend the money on food instead of buying a boat
