Oops Worthy Photos

While I don't have a picture, except for the one in my mind, I would like to observe a moment of silence for my friend's 2005 Sea Ray 280 Sundancer. Larry, Daryl and Daryl ignited the boat while shrinkwrapping it and burned it to the gunnels.

The irony here is that he is a volunteer firefighter, and got called in to put out the fire.

Scott, this could be your next avatar.

I like it! I wonder if Larry, Darryl and Darryl would like to shrinkwrap my boat next.

Used to love watching Newhart, actually I still enjoy it, along with Wings.

Thanks Jack!

Was a great show, very dry sense of humor.

Don't KILL me here guys....but if the larger vessel was "ram" (restricted in ability to manuver) or in a channel which didn't allow him to manuver, he might be the stand-on vessel. No? I am not able to tell the size of the larger vessel from the video, and if he is in a restricted channel

Should of tied the stearn down. Light boats will FLY when hitting big bumps!

You can't see it in the picture, but he was making a right hand turn. We suspect he gunned it and threw the boat off the trailer! But yes, a few tie downs might have helped him roll it instead of just sliding it off the trailer!

Here is a link with some more pics of the 52DA that ran into the sea wall.....scroll down a bit an there are several pics.

For those lazy like me, here's a picture of the actual grounding on the sea wall:

Ouch!

I loved the commentary for the picture too: "As things have slowed a bit - thought I might post a few picts of our 52 ft Sea Ray salvage operation back in September. Records seem to indicate this was the largest recovery/removal undertaking of a vessel from a hard grounding on land since July of 2000 when a smaller (44ft) Sea Ray came to rest at the 15th hole of the Porta Cima golf course near the 16 mile mark. It was a challenge and there were several lessons learned."

Double ouch!

A 44 footer on the 15th hole ? Idiots. Everyone knows you should use a 24 footer there....

Not my pics, they're taken from another forum I'm on:

Quite the balancing act! There's a rock wall there that's typically, but barely, submerged... This is the same spot on a low low-tide:

Those are both great pictures, but I really like the second one - dog and all.

I think maybe a marker or two would be nice?

Mechanicville... Hmmm..

Is that how the town got its name? Is there a big sign out in the Harbor that reads CHEAP FUEL --->

We were down in Panama City this past New Years and came across this deer laying down in what looked like the middle of no where. You Panama city guys might know this spot just coming out from under the bridge in Grand Lagoon. Might not qualify for oops but definitely strange - or just the morning after a really good time the night before

Wow.. I wouldn't want to be a boat with that whaling ship bearing down on me. That ship was incredibly maneuverable.
