OFFICIAL - 450DA Owner's Thread****

Marvel no longer makes the exact same freezer and refrigerator that Sea Ray installed on the 450DA. They do, however, make the same size box with a stainless steel case and a glass door and electronic controls where the same unit can be used for both a refrigerator or a freezer by just setting the controls to the appropriate temperature. These units are sold in the medical supply industry for lab use. I do not have a source because we never had to replace wither unit on our boat, but a friend who owns a 450DA has installed a pair and they make a very nice addition with no alterations at all.

So West Marine was kind enough to upgrade my Axiom 12 to an Axiom 12 Pro because they couldn't get the regular Axiom. So, the regular Axiom was 12" wide and a relatively easy install but upon further review the Axion Pro is 14.1" I don't have the boat or measurement right in front of me but I remember the panel where the e80 currently is located being 14" wide. Does anyone know that areas exact size? if it really is 14.0 and the Axiom Pro is 14.1....think it can it in there at all? I mean that 0.1" is pretty small. Right?

Had someone take a few pics as he was replacing the dash.
If you look closely you’ll see the black dot that measures the distance of the Axion Pro.

My wife & I have both complained about the storage above our fridge and what a waste of space it is...

Just have to say how much I love this boat. Does everything we could ask and them some, relatively fast, easy to handle, economical to run, etc. It's been fun making it our own and hopefully by next weekend everything we wanted to do to the boat will be completed. All that will remain is replacing the swim platform. Can't decide if it's a wintertime project or a pull the boat for a day or two project. Seems like the swim platform is backordered for several weeks so it just might be an off season project anyway.

On a side note. Replacing both the fwd and aft refrigerators.....the fwd was simple, 5 minute job. For the aft one it looks like the bottom step needs to be removed? Any tips on that? I'm assuming there are screws hidden in the carpet? Did a quick search on here and found a few suggestions but nothing definitive about replacing the aft refrigerator.

This weather sucks but it's got me bored and thinking.

#1. AC thru hull on aft port side...the water flow is good, it pours out and gets discharged about 2'3" from the hull. Every other boat I see in the marina the AC discharge shoots out a good 12" and appears to be under a decent amount of pressure. I'm guessing the overall volume between my boat and the neighboring boats is probably equal but it has be wondering. Whats the AC discharge like in your boat?

#2. I have a little more water in my bilge than I'd like. My goal is zero and want a dry bilge. I noticed some water laying on the outside of the port engine stringer, right underneath the engine. Water is clean, not dirty, no oil, etc. Any guess as to where this water could be coming from?

#3. More water. Aft cabin under starboard cushion a little water has gathered. This I really don't like. Water in the aft bilge is one thing but any water at all in the cabin area will really make me lose sleep. Thoughts?

Hi all,
Hoping you might be able to help me out here. I have a 1996 450DA. I'm assuming based on their condition that the wiper arms have never been replaced. However, I can not for the life of me figure out how to remove the old arms. There are two holes where set screws are supposed to go but they are empty. I can't find any release under the arms. I've included a few pics. Does anyone know how to remove these? Using this site I was able to find the replacements. But they don't do much good if I can't get the old ones off.

Thanks for the help.

SN, I had good discharge from a/c water. One time I did not and the line was plugged. Frank suggested some type of acid? I put it in strainer ran a little stopped let it sit awhile and keep doing that. Repeated this several times. Took about 5 or 6 hours best I remember. Then ran fresh water through for a little while. It opened/cleared it up completely and it fixed the problem. My a/c pump also went out once and I replaced it. Not hard but as with everything in a boat expensive. Do a search there are several good threads on this topic. Good luck, JC

Hey, we got caught in a rainstorm yesterday and noticed the power vent window is leaking more than it used to... Does anybody have a lead on the seal/gasket for that opening ? TYIA
BC, can you share what you ended up doing here? I removed the gasket as mine was leaking as well and now I have duct tape over it to keep it from leaking. Not super aesthetically pleasing. Thanks.

I cleaned everything, strainer, checked the pump, etc. All is clean. The best way to describe it is like a garden hose, mine has no nozzle and just flows where as all the other boats look like they have a nozzle set to jet and shooting the water out at a higher pressure.

My issue was growth in the hoses thus the acid to digest them. When the pressure is right (at least on mine) I had a real nice powerful stream. You should have 2(two discharges) one on the Port side middle boat and one Starboard bow side. I had 2 a/c units but one a/c pump feeding water to them. Your a/c set up may be different than mine was. In any case you should have a pretty good discharge stream if all is ok and right. JC
