not spraying - pumps do not cycle on

It's most definitely from the RAIN

Means, would likely also come in in a busy sea.

Ideas?

The bad thing is a leak can be tens of feet away and run down that joint and finally run out. So go around with a wad of TP and stick it in the joint along the boat where you can get to it. If it comes out wet keep going towards the bow.....
it may be residual water from the pressure washing also.

The common denominator in this situation is the hull to deck joint.

Looking at the photos, all the visible drips and runs appear to emanate from that point...

I agree that it may be a result of power washing… could possibly try some shrink wrap tape or similar tape over the rub rail, see if it alleviates the issue. I’d try that before ripping the rub rail ail off to access the joint. Paper idea is a good one too, I’d suggest placing in each corner of the transom to determine if it’s running down the port or starboard side versus off the transom.

Shrink wrap tape is excellent for isolating leaks and +1 on the toilet paper/tissues or paper towels, stuffing or taping in place if necessary. Best part is, even if you miss them when they are wet you will be able to tell that there were wet when you get back to the boat.

As often overlooked trouble spot on this particular model is the "trunk compartment" or lazzerette. The entire compartment is bolted down to the cockpit floor almost the entire distance across the beam of the boat from cockpit side wall to side wall. The trunk is a fiberglass structure that has about a 2" plywood strip laid in across the entire width along the bottom edge. That piece isn't sealed down to the cockpit floor very well and it can and will leak and the plywood strip will rot. The water that enters from the trunk area will run aft on the under side of the cockpit floor then run down the inside of the hull when it reaches the transom.

Confirmation that it isn't a leak at the rub rail may be the fact that you found no moisture in the transom core when you had the survey done nor did you find any moisture when you bored sample holed into the transom.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

My JOB ONE is servicing all engine & generator coolers/components, paint and detailing of the engines, gears & genny and the replacement of all engine related soft goods.

JOB TWO and before rainy season will be the rebedding all the hatches, portlights and anything else I can including the removal and sealing off of all the extra floor snaps in the cockpit.

Then there's all that awful, damned nasty salon carpet.........

Meanwhile regarding the dash panels, I would consider engine turned aluminum, (as was done in the 1955 Studebaker Speedster) panels:

Amazon.com: 48 Inch Long Engine Turned Aluminum Panel-6 Wide-1/2 Swirls-Street Rod : Automotive

however the problem would be in labeling/illuminating the rocker switch panel.

Otherwise I'll order brushed silver or perhaps gloss black panels from FP but not until I have made templates for the exact dash configuration which will include boost, pyrometer, transmission temp gauges and oil/water temp for the genny.

I've got a whole lotta catching up to do with this 450DA, however once the vision I have for the final result is realized, she will be one outstanding example of the breed.

BEST !

Same as Saverio, replacing the 3 dash panels with FP's burl wood set, also installing an undermount Davit system, (sold the Hurley H30+ as it interfered with the swim ladder) all new bimini top canvas in black, swapped in chrome emblems instead of the gold, trying to figure out what to do with this hole cut into the dash, ripped out the nasty cockpit carpet and am still deciding on flooring in that area, (woven vinyl snap in or one of the many EVA foam glue down options) sent two inquiry's to Service@ritchienavigation.com about reconditioning the compass but haven't received a reply. Also having the 3126's fully serviced and replacing the fuel valves as the port side valve is frozen. (Found the replacements on this forum - thank you!) Re registering in Florida. I'll post pics of the all new items once installed.

We ripped the old berber last year and went with the infinity woven vinyl, Solar Tan w/ Aqualoc backing. Corinthianmarine.com mention CSR and enjoy a 15% discount. No snaps needed, used their soft velcro attachments.
Would love to see a picture of the woven vinyl installed! I like the "teak" pattern infinity offers too.

Seadeck - I get it.

please forgive my ignorance but I see so many of the Sundancers sporting this exterior carpet....... I truly don't get it.

Can't hose it down, how do you clean it?

Guests board from the sandbar, likely tracking sand all over it ....

It catches leaves, dirt & debris....

Mechanic gets his greazy boots on it.....

Guest spills a red wine, food, crumbs, or worse....

But there must be something to it, otherwise why would so many Sundancers be wearing it?

Not trying to be funny here, I do hope someone will explain.

Guess I'm too used to hosing the cockpit down.

BEST !

I picked up plastic panels on Amazon and covered the hole than mounted a new radio in it. I also did the teak Eva in the cockpit

That looks great! (both the flooring and the radio plate) I really like the teak look material and think it looks great with the black canvas. The hole in my dash is below the radio location and the grab bar. Not sure what was there but thinking of machining a "glovebox" to hold phones etc... I have a metal fabrication, cnc machining, and powder coating business on the West coast. Problem is my boat is in Florida!

The EVA cleans up easily, i use the same brush that i wash the boat with or a hose. no issues
