Thanks Harold. I thought about trying to just spin the gen around but I don't like the idea of having to disconnect incoming battery and water, outgoing exhaust, and electric, but that might just be my best option. I think before I do that I'm going to try and get the access I need from the front by reaching over to the back side.
When I set mine up (as I said it is not the 'stock' generator), I gave some extra length on the battery cables and fuel lines to have room to maneuver it if needed (depending on which way I need to spin it ). I do need to remove the exhaust hose (2 clamps) and the raw water supply hose (also 2 clamps and closing the sea cock), but they are both fairly accessible and easily done.
Look at it this way, disconnecting each of them also give you a chance to inspect everything. You can spot a hose starting to go bad. An electrical connection that might be starting to corrode, etc.
