If I remember correctly, it is above the fuel tank on the port side near the vacuum pump and accumulator tank. You may have to move the port helm seat to open the hatch above the engine to get close to it.

Makes sense! That's the side I smell it when the blowers are running. Thanks! Is Their a standard replacement part?

I think it is a uniform replacement item, but (thankfully) I have not had to change it yet. Best bet would be to take the old one out to bring it with you or get the model number off of it. Don't forget to seal the lines if you take it out!!

My is on the bulk head wall in front of the port engine. Not bad to reach and change out.

As I did not change the location of mine and don't think my prior owner did either, I would assume mine is there too. I will try to check location tonight and let you know.

Well, I feel a little foolish. Went into the engine room last night and realized that my boat doesn’t have a filter on the holding tank vent line! At least not inside the engine room anyway. The vent hose comes from the center of the tank cap and runs up the port side to about the start of the port fuel tank then joins other lines going up to the deck. It appears to join the other vents in the base of the radar arch. I did not see the vent outlet any further than that last night as I did not take off the rear canvas and I have the boat moored starboard side to my floating dock. So, either my prior owner took out the filter or it never had one to start!
So, if you are getting an odor, you may have overfilled the tank at some point forcing some “stuff” into the vent hose or you need another doze of AguaKem or other holding tank chemical/deodorant.

Well Sir don't feel foolish at all because I went looking last night too and came up with the same as you, NOTHING, gave her a good ol flush and clean and all seems to be OK . Maybe it had something to do with the 9 buddies who spent last Friday on board ???? Well I guess we learned something.

Jay, No you don't have a filter on More Good Advice, never have. You must have feed one of the buddy's too good. Hope everything else is going good. LOVE your boat.:wink:, Fran

A have a fart filter screwed to the underside of the deck above the waste tank.
PITA to change lying in front of the port engine reaching up..think I'll move it to the forward bulk head like Rboreanaz (post #165) has...

Anyone know how to get into the glass panel in salon on 400EC to change the light bulb?

For the fluorescent bulbs? Very carefully pry down around the trim, not the "glass" but at the outside of the upholstered trim piece and the headliner. There are 4 plastic spring catches that hold each one up. When I did mine, one snapped but 3 are still holding the lens up 7 years later.
On another note, we have noticed for the past year a musty smell in the front cabin and have gone crazy looking for a leak without success. Sometimes its the simplest thing as I figured it out last weekend. I have never used the windlass cover and assumed that rain could not get in there...wrong, as I watched it happen. With 300 lbs of chain in the way I cannot see the drain but bet its plugged and will be this weekend's project. When it does get plugged the rain water follows around the bolstered "shelf" beside the bed. From now on the canvas cover will be on the windlass, that's for sure.

On a slightly different topic, what year is your boat? I am curious if you have any trouble with the chain binding or jamming. What brand/model windlass do you have? I am considering changing my windlass from a Good CFD to an all chain windlass and am looking for ideas/options.

Ours is a 98 and is all chain, but also see and know about the binding/jamming thing. 2 close friends have a 340 and 380 both with rope and chain. In both cases the spring arm tensioner has snapped at the stud and they are forever jamming the spool. All are Lofrans which appears to be the SeaRay standard issue of late 90s/early 2000s and all have rope/chain spools so either will work. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info

Thanks for the info on both subjects...I haven't started on cleaning upholstery in birth but know there are water stains...will be checking windlass storage too. Been working on my boat in spare time for about 10 months.

How are the upholstered panels held in? Like headliners and wall surfaces...have been afraid to start prying on them. Would be much easier to clean if I can take them out.

Any suggestions: the mast head/anchor light on my boat is loose and sometimes does not light. One time is is the front bulb (nav) then other times it is the rear (anchor). Has anyone found a replacement? I believe the mount is still sold by Perko (1123DP099a) but can't find the pole. Tried Flounder Pounder but they don't have one listed. Has anyone found a replacement? Has anyone relocated the light to the arch? If so, what did you
use?

?
