Official 390 E.C. Thread

Busterman I did the same thing but I didnt add the extensions. I did install drop tabs.

Soo the additional tabs extensions didnt help?

I want to thank all yaw'll 39ers. After all this rain I've had time to think about it for awhile and I think I'm going to stay with my 30. I like being able to do my short runs out and around he island to wash off the stress.

The other guy who wants mine is on my hot and heavy. If he likes it now he's really going to be on me by the end of the month. New props are due in two weeks.

They maybe helped a little, can't remember now but I think I was able to stay on plane just a little slower than without. I later split the difference and cut 2" off with the plasma cutter with the same result.

BTW. Rumor has it the guy was trying to hide the beached searay from the bank. I heard that the cost to remove the boat was nearly the owed amount. I wonder if the bank got a check from the insurance. It's all pretty suspect.

"Tech Support" 390 EC Restoration does first extended run.

I did my first extended run this weekend. Ran up the intracoastal for about 30 min. The engines ran smooth, no smoke, 60lbs oil, 180deg temp. Shafts ran smooth as silk. I guess my home made laser shaft aligner worked. Watched them on video while they were running. 2200rpm ~22knts. Tide was running fast 18.9 knts upstream, 24knts down stream. Did not do a WOT test. The extra two trim tabs I added with drop fins really make it pop up on plane now. Before it used to squat and take forever.

I have had a couple of Sea Ray owners of same vintage boat come by to see the boat. They about dropped dead when they got the tour. I am doing tours this winter in St. Augustine. C'mon down!

BTW: I added the extra tabs (Bennett) because a great guy from the Bennett company chimed in and suggested the two extra tabs and drop fins on all 4 tabs. Thanks a million to Bennett!!!

The switch is on the end of the vacuum tank under the couch. Not repairable to any degree. Costs about $100 to replace. Google "vacuflush switch"

Also a good time to replace the seals in the toilet.

I am looking for suggestions from anyone that has upgraded their prop for higher cruising speeds. What size, pitch, etc have people tried and results would be much appreciated. Love the boat but would like to go a little faster:cool:

I dont think their is anything you can do.
I added a second set of tabs like a lot of us done. that brought me up to 29mph [
next step would be remove some weight or repower to some 502's lol

Don't know what size you are running now, but on my 390 1990 Exp. I ran with 20 x 19 x 1 1/2 nibrals. When I had my 1988 the prop size was different. I don't remember what they were but these were much improved.
I currently have a 400EC because the marina dropped my 39 1990EC.

I have a set of these for sale because my 400EC takes 20 x 21 x 1 1/2 and they cannot be altere to a 21 pitch.

rather than shrink wrap for the winter - i was looking at a mooring cover for the winter - anyone found a vendor that sells one for the 390 EC?

My 1990 390 has 20" x 19 x 1.5 props . With these props I can only turn 3500 Rpm max at 25 MPH
I have a new pair of 19" X 18 x 1.5 cupped Nibral props to install hoping to bring up the RPM speed
Tony , what was the max RPM and speed you were able to achieve running 20"X 19X 1.5 props on your 1990 390 ec ?
Which props did you prefer , The 20X19X1.5 on the 1990 390 ec or the unidentified props on the 1988 390 ec ?
I plan on adding two more trim tabs as Savario and Dr. chip have done .
