Official 380 Thread

On my 380 I moved the systems monitor and put the SC500 in it's place. The wiring was little bit of a pain, but it worked out well...

What all does it display I know you have diesels?

On the 380DA I had the 8.1 gas motors. Those motors, in late 2001 and 2002, were Smartcraft ready. At the time I did the install, to my knowledge, there weren't any other manufactureres selling 'screens' to interface and display the info sent over the SC bus. I had to buy the system view display and some cables and junctions. It was/is plug and play...sans some installation and configuration stuff. I wrote up the whole process on SRO and my memory isn't what it used to be.

Anyway, at the time, the MAIN reason I installed the display was to get the fuel flow information...GPH. Different versions of the SV also had an interface to the GPS for instaneous fuel flow...MPG, which as it tunred out was useless. Back on target, with no other cabling or sensor installation, you will get RPMs, Engine sync, engine hours, water pressure in the impeller housing, oil temp, oil pressure, engine water temp, etc, etc. It is definitely a mod worth exploring and installing. I was able to buy all the parts, mostly on ebay, for under ~$800.

snaking that harness, and connecting it to the engines must have been fun. Nice job installing the head and moving the system monitor.

The 380DA has decent cable run access.

Remove the square open storage next to the helm to expose a large void used for running cables from front to back and to the arch.

At the rear these exit above the starboard fuel tank.

At the front these poke through a plywood wall to access the salon, that should be gooped up to maintain the sealed ignition-protected environment.

This is a fun area, w/ unfinished glass, that's lots of fun wearing sweaters on hot days.

To install the SC5000, there was no need to poke through to the salon.....after you remove the square storage on the stbd wall at the helm, there is direct (as direct as defined by a 3 ft tall pigmy) non sealed access from the ER to behind the helm area...which I guess is still technically part of the cockpit area.

In that void behind that helm storage area is where I mounted the Smarcraft splittlers and coiled the excess cables.

Thanks, we just picked up a 04 380 that had been a repo - at a decent price - I wanted to read up on the systems before we splash! (a lot different than the 270 we have now). Thanks again!

Just curious where you found your 380DA? I have been watching several repo sites.

We picked it up from national liquidators (Ft Lauderdale) - it checked out fine and the deal couldn't have been better. I actually bid on it in November and picked it up cheaper this round - the bank must have got tired of holding it.

At the slip next to me is a 2001 380. I was talking to him and he asked me where my door seal was, referring to the main door which goes down into the salon/cabin. It looks like about a 1/2 inch or maybe a little smaller chrome strip which runs around the outer edge of the door. I do not have one, and not having many 380's of this year frame to look at, I am asking here.

Do you 380 members here have the same chrome looking strip around the outside edge of your door way opening?

Thanks

This is the only pic of the cabin door that I have in my archives from my 2002 380DA.....I don't know if it will help because unfortunately, the door is open.....

Thanks osd9

That is it, see the slim chrome strip going around the outside of the door opening, apparently I am missing mine. It is shown in the 380 parts manual. I wonder what the cost might be and how hard to install it?

I never knew there should be a chrome edged trim around the door opening.

I'll take a look at mine, and take a picture so you can see how involved it would be to install.

Since you checked your boat and do not have it also, perhaps it is normal or a high dollar trim option, thanks for looking

Well maybe it was an option, it is shown in my parts manual. Sea Ray will only sell it (supposedly) in rolls of 250 feet at $2.87 a foot.

According to MarineMax and the person who located this price for me it is only a "trim" piece and not an actual gasket?

I Know the boat next to mine is a 2001, 380 and the helm dash area is different then mine, so maybe it is just trim?

So perhaps the 2002 models did not have this strip. It is no big deal, just that my slip neighbor asked about what happened to my strip (2001, 380) and teh parts manual I have downloaded for the 2002 Sea Ray site lists this item, but does not specify for a particular year.

Since I bought my boat used I was just trying to find out if something I should have is missing.

Thanks

Any 380 owners here have the Rverso oil change system? Would this unit work for my 380 or am I missing something. My marina quotes a price of $763.00, but this add states this unit pred at $519.95 (3 valve) will work, or do I need a four valve, 2 engines + 1 generator + one discharge valve = 4 valve unit or when they talk about valves are they just refering to 2 engines + 1 generator = 3 valve unit

I am also being quoted $640.00 to $800.00 for labor plus an additional $300.00 to $400.00 for hoses and other parts.
