Official 330 Sundancer Thread

Regarding the gator bite/shark bite fittings here is one I got for my hot water heater. This fall I'm going to rig up a bypass system so I can bypass the hot water heater and run antifreeze through all my hot water lines without running 5+ gallons through the water heater. I'll let you guys know if this works!

Lowes carries 1/2" fittings, did these work on the 15mm lines that are in our boats?

Yes the 1/2" gator bite of shark bite fittings fit like a glove on the plumbing in our boats. The gator bites come with a plastic insert that you use on true PEX plumbing, but the stuff in our boats does not need the plastic insert. Very simple. I love when little boat projects go as smoothly as expected. Usually any boat project takes twice as long as I think it will.

Good to know!

Has anybody mounted a Lewmar Delta Plow anchor on their 330? How well did that work out with the original setup on the bow pulpit? Did you use the 22 pounder or the 35 pounder? I am leaning towards the larger anchor because in general bigger anchors are always better.

Pete when I had my 330 I replaced the Danforth anchor with a polished "Delta style" plow. It was really one of the more attractive changes I made to the boat and it worked incredibly well. I mainly used it in sandy or soft bottoms, not in heavy weeds too often. PM me if you would like a photo. I went with the 35lb if I remember correctly. Good luck on your decision!

Hey thanks for the info. Did the original rollers and stops work with with the plow or did you have to make modifications? Lewmar rates the 22 pounder for 32'-39' boats and the 35 pounder for 42'-50' Did your 35# anchor look like it fit or was it too big looking for the boat?

What is this part for?

Can someone help me identify what aluminum bar is for? I found it in the aft cabin area and assume its some kind of support, for something? I have a 95 300 DA.

Thanks.

Re: What is this part for?

Indeed it is a fridge latch/handle.. - thanks! Would you believe that piece fits exactly in the slots that hold up the aft cabin cushions shown in the picture? I was thinking, what kind of cheap bull$%&* is this thing until I found the beefy supports that go in there!

Looks like the bottom of my cabin fridge has a cracked piece which is why the old owner took the handle off and never bothered to replace. Now I have to figure out if I can get that piece replaced.

Anyone know what size chain to use for the anchor. Somehow my rope untied itself from the chain and anchor and when I went to put it down last weekend, I lost the chain and anchor when it released from the windlass. I need to visit West Marine but I'm not sure of the chain size of the links.
thanks
john

I believe it was 5/16ths, but it depends on the windlass. Mine is the Lofrans. I'll look this weekend and post.

Most windlass gypsies use 6mm short link chain (1/4 or 5/16 inch??) and this is fitted to my 96 330DA (75m of all chain rode).

I have a 35lb plough.... I bent the shank of the big danforth 90 degrees when one day I tried to haul the bottom up instead of just the anchor alone.

Dumb questions.

Ok when I put on the running lights the anchor light switch lights up even though it's in the off position. That causes the aft light on the arch to go on. Is that right or is the switch broken?!

Allso my starboard oil alarm does not come on when I go one click on the start button. Guessing it's a wire from the gauge as the alarm panel tests ok.

Thanks!!!!

That's because when you turn on your running lights your anchor light is part of your running lights when running at night but red and green light is not needed at anchor

When the anchor light switch is on, the mast light will show both ahead and aft, so it's an all around white light required for when at anchor. The mast light has two globes that are swicthed on and off independently. At anchor, both globes are on.

When the running lights are on, the red and green nav lights are on and the mast light will have only the front half lit, showing a white light ahead, and a separate light on the rear of the arch (lower down) or on the transom will come on, showing astern. If both switches are on, the rear half of the mast light will be off and will come back on when the running lights are turned off.

It's part of the IALA requirements.

Thanks for the replies.

Testlab, that is exactly how I thought it should work as I have a aft light on the transom. But that does not seem to be the way the light is wired.

I'll have to take a closer look at it and see if someone previously modified the way it was wired.

Something to do next weekend!!!

Anyone have a proven techique for removing the black stuff under the cockpit rugs that sticks to the gel coat? I resorted to wet sanding it which worked great but also removed the non skid... Not good
