Official 330 Sundancer Thread

Can anyone advise the size and type, or the part number of compatible replacement windscreen wiper blades?

Thanks in advance.

I am at work now, so I can't verify the size, but I measured the blade, then went to an automotive store and bought the same size for a car. Remove the plastic hardware from the blades so all you have left is the hole. Then get the appropriate size stainless bolt and nylock nut, and install on the existing arm. MUCH cheaper and more durable than getting the OEM blades.

Great idea. Going to take one off the boat and try that!!

so...when I turn my port side battery switch on I immediately hear a "fan" or "electric motor" sound coming from the starboard side of the boat, sounds like it is underneath the seat where the two batteries are stored...you can also hear it from the back wall of the mid cabin berth...it turns off when I turn the port battery switch off...it seems to be running my battery down...any idea what is on the starboard side near the starboard gas tank that would be "running" all of the time?

Do you have the cockpit heat/ac option? The switch is by your right knee if you have it. It has a fan that might be what you are hearing.

Can anyone tell me which model/size/type of spark plugs they use for 7.4L Mercs naturally aspirated, not fuel injected. Time for a tune up, or at least that's what my transmission is telling me! Thing got really loud over the weekend and sure enough the port engine is running very rough at idle. Hoping it's just plugs, cap and rotor... a quick fix!

Thanks

The plug specs are on the air cleaner cover. Stock plug is the [FONT=Verdana,Arial]AC-MR43T.

yeah I changed the cap and rotor... started it up, still running rough... Changed out 8 plugs, MR 43Ts and viola. Ran smooth as butter. One plug I pulled did have cracked porcelian, otherwise they didn't look too bad. So I was just glad to have the engine running smoothly at 650 RPMs and the tranny was much quieter for it! Also changed both fuel filters on the port side to complete the tune up... Now I have to repeat the process on the starboard side.

once again you are correct...figured it out last time I was out...I had some small kids on the boat and didn't even think about the cockpit heat/cool

That is awesome! I didn't even know that was an option on these boats! I wonder how tough it would be to add now? Where is your a/c heat unit located?

I have a question that I don't recall seeing addressed here before. My arch has had some paint bubbling up since I got it. Recently large chunks have popped off. Has anyone else had this problem? What would you recommend for a touch up repair as I don't want to get the whole arch painted right now or in the near future.

Hey Todd - I have the same issue and a friend with a 1994 330 had it much worse then me. I've looked around the internet about how this should be addressed and I have found a couple solutions, but they're at my office... i'll try to remember to post them next week. I think the gist of it was to sand down where the bubbles are or where they've opened up and apply a certain type of primer over the aluminum. Probably won't get an exact color match, but from what I've read its best to attack this problem when it starts rather than waiting because it will continue to spread until you sand and fix it.

Thanks Ippa. I look forward to any suggestions there. Paint color is going to be another issue too I guess.

Ok, Does anyone know the part # for the engine hatch actuator? I was at the boat Thursday night with my mechanic buddy checking out my alternator. The damn engine hatch was really giving me a hard time. This never happened before but it was quite aggravating and needs to be addressed. I was just imagining being in the ocean and needing to gain access to the engine room in like 4' swells and having this thing say" Nah, I don't feel like it right now"!!!

Define aggravating. Mine used to sound like it was binding. I accidentally grabbed it with an oily rag. When the hatch went past that part, it ceased to bind. Now after I check my fluids, I wipe down the piston with the oily paper towel. Then I do the same for the windshield vent actuator.

I have not had a problem for a couple of years now.....Knocking on wood.

David,
Mine actually does nothing when I hit the switch. I must have hit it 20 times to get it to move. This seems to happen at the endrange open & closed. Once it's moving I have to keep it moving or it sometimes get stuck in midrange too. I figure it's time for a new one.

Sounds like corrosion on the contacts either in the switch or at the base of the unit itself.

Try removing the switch panel and jumping the switch.

I have no limits on my opener. It Clacks when it reaches the top limit and continues to try to pull the hatch down at the bottom limit.

Will do David. It would be nice if it was something simple like that but, my luck generally doesn't run that way!

hello everyone. I am well into my first season with our beautiful 94 330 sundancer. I like most new boat owners am working through a few issues & need some advice from the people that know.

1: Does anyone have a wiring schematic for the batteries in the bilge. I am wanting to add a strong AGM house bank & am trying to figure out the best method.I am considering adding some BEP VSR modules in to distribute the charging but I know the boat already has some sort of isolator on it. my intent is to wire the 3 new agms in parallel for the house. Then I have two good wet cells which I will leave connected to each engine start system. I have two chargers to run on the boat so each battery will receive it's own charge when at shore power both chargers are new decent model promariners with auto maintenance modes. I have no genny on this particular boat if it makes a difference.

2: Totally unrelated does anyone know how to access the holding tank filter on our boats. I can see the hose coming off the top of the tank but it appears I have to pull the port side trim panel completely off to do this.
I had this off in the winter but do not recall seeing the filter & just figured before I went through the 2 hours to pull it again without destroying the vinyl I would ask for advice.

3: I have the vacu flush head in my boat. When flushing it I am getting a foul smell coming our of the bilge. When I flush it & listen in the bilge I can here a psst, psst, psst sound like I am experiencing a leak but I cannot locate on from any fittings or hose. If the pressure pump for this system is starting to fail is this a typical symptom. I should say for what it is worth this boat was very well maintained by the PO & bilge is spotless but the system does appear to have all original hoses.

Thanks in advance for all responses I have been searching all over for these answers online but have not come up with anything real definitive

eddies26;

If the holding tank vent is the same at on the 95 to 99 versions of the 330, it is just forward of the holding tank in a bracket in the gunwales. You have to get into the ER and look up with a flashlight. It
looks as if you need to unscrew the filter. Not so. It is held in a plastic bracket.

The smell may be because the filter go wet. Once the activated charcoal is wet, it is useless and requires a rebuild. I need to do mine this week for just that reason.

WRT the batteries. MAKE SURE your charger is compatible with AGM's. If it is not, you are throwing your money away.

Well I feel like I'm taking delivery of a new boat today... well maybe not even close, but I had the name put on this morning and it's just good to see. Now I'm finally in code with the Coast Guard documented regs, except the port of call does not match my documentation... need to have that updated eventually.

The same noise happens to me from time to time. Always seems to be the starboard side. A friend told me maybe the muffler is not getting enough water because of a weak impeller. The impellers were new last fall. Gauges are all normal and boat runs fine. Any more thoughts on this subject?

Thanks,
