Storage of windshield plastics... so where does everyone store their wind shield plastics? I usually take them off as one big piece instead of 3 individual ones, but I might have to start taking them off individually so they're easier to store. Maybe under the aft filler cushion... that is where I store all the other canvas and plastics.

I store mine rolled up in the forward sole compartment, right in front of the galley sink.

Hey see that's why I posted this question. I've never considered storing them in any of the hanging lockers. How to you role up those plastics? I find with the rubber bottom lip piece they are very stiff and difficult to roll up.

I wrap them in an old sheet and place then into a 6 inch PVC tube cut to correct length of the rolled plastics, 4 tubes total, one for each section above the windshield, the two side curtains I wrap together. I place the tubes in the rear hanging locker.

I store mine flat under the forward dinette seat. Put a towel in between each piece. I also clean them with the Plexis spray before I put them away. HMMM well if you have the settee then they might not fit. Another advantage of the dinette... In addition to making a real double berth for sleeping..

Hello. I am wondering if someone can help me with some information. I am looking at both a 1998 and a 1999 330 Sundancer and wondering what the major differences between the model years are with this boat. Visually, there does not seem to be a lot of difference. Can someone who is a 330 guru please be so kind to give me the scoop?

Well, I don't claim to be a guru but let me see if I can be any help. The big change came in 2000 when the 330 became the 340. They raised the arch as well as some other things I am not fully aware of. I believe one of the things that did change in the years you are looking at is the change from carburated engines to fuel injection.
Some of the variances in these boats also include the standard dinette versus the setee' or "couch" style layout.
The drives also came in 2 styles. The inboards come with V-drives and it was also available in an I/O configuration with outdrives. The big difference between those 2 is that the handling around the dock is a little better with the v-drives due to the placement of the props. The outdrives will give you more speed from what I have read but then there is the whole outdrive maintenance to deal with.
I hope this little bit of information at least gets you started. Good luck!

Well overall there was not a lot of difference as they were phasing it out and in 99 they introduced the 340 on the same hull as the 96-99 model. The differences that I remember are starting in 98 the helm was tan to reduce glare. I think you could order a 99 with a stainless windshield. As Todd mentioned the fuel injection engines were a big change.

Interior wise I believe that in 99 the cherrywood veneer was an option if not standard. All the changes were positive except for one change! The forward berth starting in 98 they extended the coaming to the top of the mattress and with that you lose an inch or two of room.

Overall I think those two years of the 330 were really some of the best as they had a great production run to work things out.

My '99 has the fuel injected motors, white cabinets and an electric couch. At times I wish we had the L-shaped couch as dining is more conducive for four people to gather around the little table.

Other than that, we love our 330.

My 99 has a light birch burl interior. The hardtop was put on by the PO. I'm 6'4" and have numerous knots on my head from banging the hard top. I have 6.2L Horizons. They were replaced due to water injestion (reversion?). Make sure there are spacers between the exhaust elbow and the manifolds. You need at least 13" from the water to the top of the elbow. I prefer the 330 to the 340 because of the angled forward berth. I hang off the end of the center line berth on the 340.

question for my fellow 330 DA owners with 454 Vdrives. What is your WOT rpms? My boat is a 1995, I'm getting 4200 rpms at WOT. That seems low to me. Please let me know where you folks stand.

That is about what I get as well. Its about 200 low of what Mercury says should be WOT, but I very seldom take it up there so I don't sweat it.

At 4200 you're right in the ball park. I think ideally it might be 4400, but actually the range I've heard is 4000-4400, so 4200 is dead center. Personally I'm only barley getting 4000 WOT, but I'm not overly concerned with it. It's probably a prop issue for me, but I can live with it.

Enjoy!

i get 4350 after prop scan before prop scan, i was getting 4100 the engine spec for 95 is 4000-4400.

You are hurting fuel consumption and stressing the engines by doing so. Have them prop scanned or Hale'd. You'll make up the cost in fuel savings. At least I did.

I did have them prop scanned. Problem is they're not the factory props 17x17. They're some kind of variable pitch prop that was popular in the late 90s. Going to get four blades eventually so for now they are fine.

Love the hardtop! Do you know where the PO got it?

Hi Everyone,
I have a 1998 330 SD and recently after rainstorms, I have been getting water in the aft cabin carpet. I believe I have traced the water from the aft carpet to originate from the starboard side window that is above the couch. I found the carpet to be damp under the couch cushions (at the bottom of the starboard hull where carpet meets the hull its wet - although I can't get behnind the hull or under the window to visually confirm this) the water then runs to the closet carpet then down to the aft carpet in the back. I am concerned that I will get mildew and mold smell too. I was searching the site and it appears these four windows; two port side and two starboard side should be rebedded every 6 or 7 years. I have owned the boat for about 6 years and I have never done this. Has anyone ever had this problem or reseated these windows. Is there instructions on how to do this? Or do I simply unscrew the screws on the inside and out and remove the window and then recaulk and reseat? Or should I have my boat mechanic do this?

As well, could the water be entering because the black window tabs pushing against the rubber seal needs to be tightened. The black tabs don't seem very tight, but it does appear to create a seal on the black rubber ring as I do see water sitting in it (after a rain storm). Can you tighten these?

Any help would be appreciated.

Replaced stereo on my 97 330

I replaced my original Clarion stereo this week with a Clarion CMD5 unit and an iPOD connection unit. I bought both on Kijiji.ca (kind of a free eBay that is hugely popular in Canada). The CMD5 was new in box and was only $120. I took out the 6CD changer and left the space open as a bit of storage for smaller items and a place to put the ipod. The iPOD interface is a bit archaic but it works well enough. So now I can finally play my iPOD and MP3 CDs properly without using those lousy FM units. Places me firmly into ~2008 technology!

And the great thing is that the CMD5 works with my original wired remote at the helm :smt038. From the Clarion compatibility charts I did not think it would.

Now the only thing I have to do is cut a hole into the cabinet door. The CMD5 sticks out further than the stock radio did. But if I do it nicely if will be a good feature to not have to open the cabinet to work the stereo and it will allow the infrared remote to work too.

I see lots of these stereo / iPod upgrade threads, so I though I would post my solution to the problem. It's more general than just the 330s, though, so it is in the Mods / Customizations forums: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/45655-Stereo-upgrade-for-iPod-and-more?p=504944#post504944
