Official 290 Sundancer Thread

There is a fitting that the water intake from drive goes through that I had to replace because it gradually pinches off. Drives have to be pulled to get to it. Is your psi not increasing when you bring rpms up? Cost me $1500 to have drives pulled and new hose fitting put in. Good time to check bellows/gimbals.

Need Help

I have 2006 SD 290. My port engine 5.0 is over heating at idle. Had guy come change impeller in sea pump. Had him do both whlle he was here. The SB side hose gushed water when he disconnected and was below water line but port side only trickled water. Obvious blockage somewhere. We tried forcing water back through line with garden hose and appeared to help..Still not the flow SBoard had so we figured lets see if new impeller would help. It didn't. It over heated again

Now whats confusing is that it overheated a few weeks ago I gave it RPM and it cooled. Took boat out next day up and down intracoastal and was fine. Next weekend took out, cruised about 10 miles at idle and was fine. Stopped to eat at Bokampers couple hours , head home night time got almost all the way home and alarm sounded. Over heat.

Help

Hello, has anyone replaced the cockpit or arch lights with colored LED's? If so, do you have details on the bulbs?

Sal A, yes I also like the ones that you can change color from blue to white. I understand you have to replace the fixture itself, not just bulbs. Does anyone have the part information for a 2006 290, and where to purchase?

Blu-ray, do those bulbs fit into the factory fixtures? Looking to add LEd's to the arch lights, as well as cockpit courtesy lights.
Yes they are an exact fit and look great although not as bright as white, don't plan to read newspaper, but great for ambiance lighting fit arch and lower receptacles! I can e-mail pix if you send me an address or just a quick note

Any SoCal members? Trying to buy 2006 290 Sundancer. Are twin 4.3 B3 enough for generic Catalina runs? Anyone else with an opinion re: 25 mile crossing needs.

Congrats on the 290. The underwater lights would have been on ACC2 if factory installed. It runs through the AFT EIM and are prewierd. You will find the stubbed out wires coming out of the main engine room harness on the PORT aft corner. They are (maybe - Brown and Yellow?) stubbed with butt connectors. Just put a meter in them and turn on ACC2 to be sure.

As for ACC1, it comes off the FWD EIM, located under the helm inside the door. I have not yet found where the wires are stubbed, but according to Sea Ray tech they are wired into the main harness that leaves the FWD EIM and had no factory purpose on this boat, but are usable, same with the vent if you can find the wires.

Long story short ... the very large bundle of wires coming from FWD EIM right side. carefully slice the black tape that holds the end of the split loom covering. RED/Violet stripe wire coming from pin #20. Its the only one, that's only a foot long, and ends not connected to anything, terminated in a convenient female bullet connector. activated by acc 1 switch protected by re-settable 15 amp breaker position #2 upper right
Hope this saves someone the difficult time I had! The schematic in owners manual shows pin 20 as un-switched and pin #1 as switched acc#1 ;0( :smt021

Anybody have their tach gauge led's go out? Hunting for new gauge #1777617, seems rare. Marinemax said $500 would do it??

Thanks

I posted this in another forum but thought I would ask here as well as most of you have same 3 battery set up. Can you answer how the 3 batteries are wired into the 2 battery switch from the factory? Are both starting batteries on 1 or 2, and the house battery on the other?

Hello, I have a 3 bank battery setup. One for each engine for starting, port and starboard, and a third for house duty. My battery switch is a rotary knob, and has 4 positions, battery 1, battery 2, both and off. When sitting at the dock, I usually just randomly pick 1 or 2, to power radio or lights at night. Will either selection only draw from my house battery? I don't want to be drawing from either of the starting batteries. Not sure if this can this be answered without looking at how they are wired.

Thoughts are appreciated, happy Friday!

If it's like mine (a 2007 290) then 1 battery is on its own switch (the right one, which just has On/Off) which powers 1 engine (the starboard, iirc); The other 2 batteries are wired to the other switch (1, 2, 1+2, Off) and powers the other engine.

In mine the single battery powers the port engine and the Gen. The bank (2 batteries) are the house and starboard engine start.

Does anyone know the dimensions of the cockpit table post? The post was not in the boat when I bought it so I need to order a new one. The dimensions are not in the spare parts catalog :/

Where are your Raymarine DSM 300 located? The boat is new to me and I can't find it
