Official 290 Sundancer Thread

Hello, that is for the option of the "powered vent" window at the bottom middle of your windshield.
If you have it, there should be a cylinder with a cover over it going from just in front of your door on top of the "dash"
connecting to a section of your windshield that lifts up. Hope that helps, and hope that is what you are talking about.
Interesting if you don't have it, because if you don't have the option, there would usually just be a blank there, unless it quit working
and the previous owners just removed the mechanism. Looking foward to seeing what you find.

Actually Jeffandmarylynne,
The later model (06 and above) 290's have the control panel switch's for the window vents but don't have a vent as the center of the windscreen is walk through, Also have Port and Starboard windshield wiper sw's but only a starboard wiper and a aux 1 and 2 only #1 is used from factory (underwater lights). Factory schematics show these and they can be utilized for other functions coming out of forward and aft EIM's. I tagged the aux 2, front EIM out, for my nema 2000 network. And or just check out the other link here to our photobook page album.:smt024

Ok then I know:thumbsup: You mentioned your underwater lighting. My only works with the generator on or with shore power. Is that right? I thought it was 12V LED?

I'm pretty sure mine are 12 volt halogen. They function when house batteries are on and aux 2 is on. Correction from last post my NEMA 2000 network is on aux 1. 12 volt wiring probably exists whether or not yours had these as an option. The wires will be 2 /16 AWG wires (red and blue) in a grey sleeve in the area of where the lights are, from factory, inside hull. My guess is that someone added AC lights to yours. I am looking for options to swap mine out for LED's as the Halogens are not blue and use way to much power!!

I have blue LED lights. There not the same as the original mounted underwater lights. I´l have a look at the wiring and check how i can rewire. Want to be able to have the LED´s on when running or at anchor without shore power or generator.

I have problems with rainwater leaking in and down on the bed in the bow. I have resealed the window frames and roof windows. But it still leaks in. Anyone have suggestions or who have had the same problem and found the solution?

I had a similar problem with water leaking in through the port skylight. I cleaned out all the old caulk and re-did the entire window. No more water has leaked in since. Have you ran a hose to determine exactly where the water is leaking in from? Most likely one of the skylight windows on top, might have to redo the caulk job.

Ok my next step is to ran a hose and se what happens. Hopefully it will show exactly were it leaks

Blu Ray, not sure you can swap the Halogen with LED's. From the 290 manual, I found this, what happens if the bulb burns out???

1774634 LIGHT, UNDRWTR 12V/50W HALOGEN SEALED BEAM
(LIGHT BULB NOT REPLACEABLE)

Yup...mine leaked as well.I had both re-caulked and no leaks since.

Time for re-bedding! I had both skylight bezels fall from the headliner running in some moderate chop on Sunday. Both have been leaking a little now and then. Port skylight came partially out of the bedding. My 2 kids were down there and luckily they were in the aft cabin (playing) when it happened. The Admiral was not happy.

So what's new? I myself have changed main folds on both motors. Re caulked both skylight windows. Installed new impellers. Installed new refrigerator Waeco CRX-65. Changed the shifter cables. Now I wax and on Saturday it's launching time. Will be nice to get out on the lake again after a long and cold winter :smt038

Was the refrigerator a direct replacement, and looks factory? My Norcold is at the repair shop but it might be un repairable....

Boat washed, oil changed, new batteries installed. First cruise yesterday (to put fuel in the boat). Beautiful afternoon and boat ran well. Still to do: re-bed skylights, fuel filters on engines and generator, wax!

Has anyone found decent replacement rear camper enclosures online? mine are MIA and the local canvas shop quoted me 3000 for the three curtains/glass? And is anyone aware of a site I can order filler cushions?

http://www.greatlakesboattop.com/ We just did the whole thing with an aft curtain for under $2k

Unfortunately the aft curtain wont reach the snaps as it came, so I'm having a local shop hem in an extension. Even with that added cost, it's still way cheaper.

It's not a direct replacement. The crx-65 i smaller than the factory installed Norcold. Byt it fits right in the hole of the old fridge. I will install the new refrigerator and if it's to small swap to the CRX-80 instead and saw the hole so it fits.

Look at domestic web site

All,

Been following this 290 thread for a bit. The 290 (later) was high on my list but the thing that just killed it was the awkward port round seat. I've heard some comments about it not being very functional, but only have limited experience. The port lounge was a "must" for me as the lady liked it and like to snooze over there. (Also was the walk thru windshield).

Got a 280, which I've very happy with, but still have the 290 in my mind.

Am I over looking this and making a big deal out of nothing?

Always thinking of the "next" boat.....
