Official 290 Sundancer Thread

I saw that on eBay which inspired my $29 suggestion. I am near you as well and really use it for a more "open" feeling, keeping the young ones inside (at least delayed from escaping) and the bugs out, but definitely more than 3 times a year; however, we are on our boat a lot.

Yeah, I saw the one on eBay as well... Sweet Sassy Molassy!

Once I open up for spring, I'll take some measurements and either do a simple fold-up/drop-down screen with snaps or a wood-framed screen w/ velcro.

Has anyone ever mounted a tv topside on their 290? If so, where, what brand, etc. Any pics?

I think it's like 12 inches. But I installed so I can easily take a bigger one and use same mount.

Has anyone experienced their 290 DA leaning slightly to the starboard side? I am talking just by a few degrees but enough that it is obvious by looking at it (it becomes more obvious at the fixed docks at high tide). No water in bilge. Holding tank 1/2 full. Nothing unusual in terms of gear storage.

It drove me crazy last season. An old salty dog told me that he has seen that before - without an explanation - and they had to mount steel bar in the engine compartment to balance her out.

How much water/fuel? Do you have a generator? Refrigerators? Are they full? This could be a tough one.

lets say 1/2 fuel and water. yes, gen - but mounted almost directly in the middle. I agree, a tough one.

Ptallen I haven't had it made as of yet, she is in winter hibernation right now.

There is more potential stowage on the starboard side, what with the cabin, pots and pans in the galley, the head area and the fridges... Maybe that?

I have the gauges as well - use them quite a bit, but find myself pushing buttons to scroll to the info I want at certain times. It would be nice to have everything on 1 monitor. Is that a possibility with the existing cabling?

Yes, like Bay Bs, we have the gauges but the read out is small and scrolls info - so at times is frustrating. I want to say - but not sure - the vessel view gauge is about $1K. It has to be an easy hook up if we already have the smart gauges???

Just found this tidbit "Works with Mercury Smartcraft 2002 and newer" on the VesselView 7 advertised on eBay. That being said, probably worth a call to a dealer/installer to see what's really entailed. Would be nice if there is a harness to allow the addition of the VesselView vs. 1 or the other (making the existing gauges obsolete).

jimjag, is your boat also equipped with the SmartCraft Gauges or only the VesselView? Thanks!

I did. Check my posts for a writeup. I had the gauges, then added System View, then upgraded that to Vessel View. It all depends on where you can find the unit as for how much it will cost.
