Official 240 Sundancer Thread

Something isn’t right…have you stuck your finger(s) in the openings of the box and felt the actual flat switch? It may be stuck, filled up with gunk, etc. I just simply can’t imagine that you do not have an automatic feature on your pump…

I have turned the knob on the box and I only feel a click from the knob. I really cant see any opening to see where the float switch is. I will try again tomorrow or this weekend.

The idea behind the box is to automate your bilge pump. Maybe the box itself is bad. If so, the good news is that the switch box is most likely cheaper than a new pump.

Thanks for the reply Guys,
I have decided to get the Bellows replaced by a local Mercury Dealer, and get it serviced at the same time. I know the Service Manager through mutual friends and the Service team where I work part time. I have arranged to be able to sit in on the service and strip down of the leg and replacement of the Bellows etc. the idea is next time I should be able to do it myself if I watch the process carefully.
Chris is the heat exchange unit what yuo have suggest as a fresh water cooling kit, as I have one fitted, or is there something else I should know about.
I think the fishing would be much better up in Hervey Bay

Hey guys. Does anyone know how to change the bulb on the lights either side of the mirror (see pic). I can't work out how to get the plastic clear cover off to get to the bulb.

Has anyone taken thier 240 across to the Bahamas. I'm alittle nervous about the trip? There is a guided tour over but the shceudle is from Wednesday to Sunday. Not the most attractive when ytou trailer your boat 800 miles to Florida.
Any info is appreciated...

The offical website is http://www.bahamas.com/bahamas/boating-fling-schedule-2009
It states 2009 dates in the website address but 2010 dates are on this site. It'a a 55-mile run from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Bimini. We've never taken our boat more than 5 miles off shore. Our 240 DA gets a bit uncomfortable at 4 ft swells. KP

I have, I try to go every year. Last years trip was to Bimini. I don't know how to post a link but it is in the Carolinas section, titled something like back from the islands. I have posted a few on the subject, including bad weather crossings. There's alot of preperation, but it can be done. As far as the Bahamas flings, sometimes they have size limits to what they require. You need to check on that. Also insurance is a biggie. They will require a certain amount of experience and you'll be required to cross in a flotilla. Two or more boats going and returning from a same destination. I guess look up under my log in name and read all I've posted, if you'd like. I see you live in Raliegh, if you get real serious, I wouldn't be oposed to meeting and showing you what I know. It'll only take 10 or minutes. lol.

I know, it's hard down here. This weekend we are looking at a very cold 75 with 5 mph winds from the south. The unfortunate thing is that the gnats are coming soon. When it is the perfect weather, the bugs come out. I'm afraid that the cold weather only made them stronger. We have mosquitoes the size of turkeys now.

Unfortunately for me, I will be losing my boat. I've had an extreme pay cut (I work for county govt) and the boat does not fit into my budget anymore. I have not had any luck trying to sell my boat. It's going to be a sad day when its gone. :(

I will be taking out my fortress anchor, 2 JL audio 7.7 speakers and RF 2 channel amp that I have on the boat. The system definitely puts out really good music. I should be posting it up maybe next week.

Papogater24, sorry to hear that. These times are so very hard for everyone. I do hope things turn around sooner rather than later! It's odd that there are very few 240's with a genset, and you and I have almost the exact same boat. I even went down to Miami from Savannah, GA to buy it last year! I hope things change so you can keep it.

Thank guys, I appreciate the positive support. Unless a miracle happens, then I definitely can keep the boat which I would love for it to happen.

I will still be here to help other 240DA owners as I have the service manuals for the sterndrive and engine (5.0L).

SeaDawg, good to see you have a genny on the boat. I couldn't live without it in the weather. Makes overnighting alot easier.
