Official 240 Sundancer Thread

that wasn't ocean. that was just the Bay.

this is Ocean. 15 miles offshore and land is somewhere over the horizon.

you can tell the bay from the gulf as the waves get much bigger even on a clam day like this.

here's another shot of the bay at sunrise.

As for the doghnuts, it was a clam morning no need for velcro, besides they didn't last long.

here's my crusing set up.

Garmin 545s just below the wind screen and Ipod just to the left. Everything within reach and I don't have to take my eyes off the road.
Tom, my mind is blank! What's the piece the wires are going in to and where do I get one?
A much cleaner look than a drilled hole!

I do very much miss the ocean. I lived all over Florida for 5 years traveling as a RN. My favorite places have to be Siesta Key, "Pass a Grille", and Destin on the West coast. Delray Beach on the East. Ft Lauderdale almost killed me. But I had a great time.

Update:

A cool weekend….literally. So far, so good with the 5200 BTU unit. I’ll definitely post some installation pictures if there is a demand. I cut a lot of holes in the boat and ran a lot of new plumbing and electrical the previous weekend. Overall the project went very well and the system as a whole has exceeded my expectations thus far. We spent 3 nights/days with the new a/c over the holiday weekend. It does run quite a bit during the heat of the day and is only able to maintain just under 80 degrees, but after the sun goes down, the cabin becomes down right cold. My assumption is that I can get the cabin cooler during the day by limiting how often the door is opened and closed, covering the hatch and portholes, to reduce the sunlight coming in, etc.

Well Todd...I know you like deep lakes...and mine is not one you would like.
One sec it will be 30' , then 12', then 5'.
The cost of my prop made me sick. The stainless made me puke!
For what I do, I'll stick with the one I have.
I have a GPS this year that will help me greatly, and with the map of the lake on it,
I hope I'll be fine!

Yeah, in those depths, I would completely agree. Do you carry a spare?
I'm sure you know your lake well but you never know.

BTW~I think I posted to you my recommendations on the GPS location in your other thread on It. I was leary when I installed it here

but I really like where it is.

Hey all. I'm still new to this forum and trying to get things worked out (proper signature, boat pics, etc.). Does anyone know how to find parts and/or tech. assist. on a refrigerator on a 2000 model 240 Sundancer? Info on fridge shows it to be a model DC65 "Dino Cool". Replaced a blown 5A fuse on board that converts from AC to DC and works well now on AC. Compressor cycles off and on while on DC. Turns mayonnaise into cottage cheese! :smt001

Don,

Sorry I can't help with your question but on your signature you will want to change your SD to a DA, SD = Sundeck. Thanks for taking the time to get all the information correct. I am sure one of these other guys will be able to help with your refrigerator questions.

Mike;

sorry about the delayed response; 4th july weekend and all....Had to go Boatin...

the cables for the gramin go into the top of the dash via a compression fitting I picked up at boaters world. there are a bunch of different kinds, from Clam shells, rubber pucks and this one. the hardest part was to drill the hole big enough to put the compression shell int the dash and then just screw the whole thing down tight. I have the opening facing towards the wind screen so that even if some water gets up on the dash it still wont flow into the hole.

here's a closer shot of the set up.

Thanks Wesley. In my case I think the DA stands for something entirely different! LOL I do enjoy perusing this forum. Seems to be a great bunch of boaters. As a new boater, I've learned a lot here. Thanks again.

Water leaking into v-berth?

I have a 2000 searay sundancer and I have a problem with a small amount of water leaking into my forward cabin, it runs down the wall and leaves water stains in the carpet(hull wall). If you know this boat the area I am talking about is on each side of the mirror in the v-berth in the creases running down to the front seat cushion. The water is slightly rusty and settles in the very front storage compartment under the front seat cushion. This first happened in 2003 and searay did not cover it under warranty, they said it was coming from the rub rail and they re-sealed it and it seemed to be fine for a while but it is happening again.
Has anyone else experienced this? Can someone give me advice on a solution?

Thank you in advance for your help!:smt100

I had a similar problem with water penetrating the area you are speaking of. After sealing some small fractures in the anchor locker, including around the speakers with 4200, I haven’t had any more leaks......may not be the same issue that you are having, but it does sound like it.

Regards,
Chris

Anybody feel that their trim tabs are not effective enough? The way the seating is laid out (all on the port side) makes it tough to level the ride with a full house. Its not bad with myself and my family...but add a few more bodies and I don't have enough correction. Any solutions?

I’ve definitely experienced some of the same issues when carrying more than a few folks. I don’t know if smart tabs, given their design, would help, but they are sure talked about quite often. I guess I have just chalked it up as an inherent characteristic of the boat, given its beam and layout.

I know what you mean about the seating lay-out, but I level out the boat just fine with a loaded port side (and I still have trim tab left to go.) That makes me
Are you absolutely sure your trim tabs are working properly?

:smt021 I think they're working right? Looks like I need to do some investigating when its out of the water (Oct.). Could be way to much beer in the fridge......is there such a thing?

Do you have trim tab light indicator on your dash?
My brother does on his and when he pushed down on the button and all
the lights were lit, he would stop thinking they were all the way down.
Having the same listing problem as you, when we took the boat out of the water
and tested it, we noticed that he still had a lot more travel to go on his
tabs when all the lights were lit. Keep holding down on the button, problem solved.
He does not have to ride with his head crooked anymore.
