Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

No. sorry I explained it wrong. The anchor light up on the arch. It's on a pole. You have a fwd light on when on way and both fwd and rear when at anchor. I bought one of these http://www.rigidindustries.com/led-lighting/70151 and mounted it pointing to the rear on the pole. Then used the acc switch to turn it on.

Where did you pick up the power wire from the acc switch? I assume under the dash. Do you happen to have a pic? Also, where is the ground wire attachment? I'm setting up a wifi router network that I want to run off the same switch.

We need to get you out of this thread while you still can! This is where the sexier, newer 340's reside. Us pre-2003 owners are relegated to our own thread where we fool ourselves into thinking ours look "almost as nice" as the 2003+ models.

I think you'd only tube behind a 340 once before you realized what that entails. If tubing/watersports are a priority for you I think you should consider something no bigger than mid/upper 20'. A nice bimini and porta-potti on a 260 can make for a very nice day tripper. I suspect you can find one with a generator and AC too if you search hard enough...
I have a 260 da with genset still on the market if you are interested.

Ok..Under the dash there is a bundle of wires that come out of the fuse panel it's the push button fuses. In that bundle there are 2 wires coming out of the box around 1.5 ft long. Each one has a crimp connection. They are just 2 wires by them self in the bundle with nothing connected. I'm not sure, but I think they are wires #278 and #279. Just hook up a light probe to one and ground it. Hit all the switches and see what one lights it up.

I just set up a wifi router and rouge wave this spring and used the empty 12v DC breaker space in the DC panel. I bought a new 7.5amp breaker and ran power to the router and rouge wave from there. I found this much easier as I mounted my router on the wall above the cabinet that the AC/DC breakers are in. There is a ground bus in that cabinet a well to get ground from.

My apologies to the forum for posting on the wrong 340 thread (new to the forum). Thanks for the input and advice on tubing behind a 340. I'm now looking for a 260 or 280 for my cruising/water sports boating needs.

I have an 05 340 , there is a builiton on that module situation , call Mercury marine customer service ,give them you engine serial numbers ,if you have an active /open unaddressed recall ,they will tell you to get a authorized merc dealer and they will fix it for free .
there is not time or age limit on the recall, here is the number ,just follow the prompts ,
1 (920) 929-5040 Or you can just go to the dealer with engine numbers and they can look it up. , they are correcting mine end of this week. Just for FYI !! You can call sea Ray customer service and ask if there's open recall or bullitions on your boat , they fixed something with the shafts on mine too. SEA RAY CUST SERVICE 1-865-971-6250. , you can even request the factory option/built sheet and selling dealer or even parts supplier for thing built on your boat

Any one ever have to replace the vent under the port side seat ??? There are two white plastic vents on the seat base and one of mine got broke . I cannot find the part in the owner's manual . I need the part # so I can replace then. I may call sea Ray CS and see if they can figure it out

2 days+ of labor and my new 32" tv is mounted, operates on an inverter, connected to the stereo, plays DVDs, and live digital TV. Running the cables was the hardest part.

Re: 2003.5-2008 340 Sundacer Thread

Does anyone know the vertical clearance, top of Nav light on arch to the waterline, on our vintage 340s? I have to clear some swing bridges on a trip this weekend that are 12' vertical clearance at high tide. Unfortunately I'll be just a few hours past high tide when I get to them. One of them opens on the hour and half hour but the other opens only on the hour.

Thanks for the info....I found the bundle behind the speaker panel but I ran out of time.

Thanks Jeremy....That's a good plan B. I'm mounting te router behind the speaker panel at the helm so picking up power at the fwd EIM should work out well.

11' 6" - those are the dimensions direct from the owner's manual (section 2.5)

Thanks.
That is really cutting it close. I can shave 14" if I just swing the masthead light down, since I can't tell you when I ran at night the last time, and can just put it back up after the bridges are cleared.

Don't forget anything else bolted up top like radar. You probably also want to calculate in a buffer to take into consideration any potential from unanticipated wakes or swells.

does anyone know if the raymarine radar installed on the 2005's has quick release wiring?
