Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

hey anyone know what wiper blades to buy for an 05'? i would like to go with the rainex ones. what size please?

Anyone have pics of their Magma Grill mounted on their boats?? Trying to help the new owner, he has picked a spot on the port side, but just wanted to see if any of you had pics for reference.

Kindest Regards from The Kid

here is mine on an earlier model 340.....

I like that table setup on the back. I am guessing that it is removable? Do you have some info/pics on the setup you can pass along?

-Kevin

the table is removable....it works great as a prep table for grilling....it is connected to the grab rail by pipe clamps I got from Grainger.....here is a pic of the underside....if you want more details send me a PM and we can discuss....it is just a generic pontoon table I got off the internet....

i have an 06 340 with 8.1's. Any idea at a marina what it should cost to change oil in both engines and generator?

anyone changed their own fuel module? its my understanding that the inside was painted and the paint flakes off and clogs the injectors. is this a difficult job? or maybe theres a thread somewhere showing how to do this?

New to the forum and considering purchase of 2001 340 Sundancer with twin 6.2 V-drives. This will be my first cruiser...moving up from 22" pontoon. Are the 6.2s underpowered for this boat? We plan to do basic cruising (inland lake) and some tubing with the kids. We are choosing cruiser because we like to be on the water all day and we live in SC where it is "swamp" hot. Advice on the 6.2s as well as the 340's ability to do some basic tubing would be helpful.

first off you are posting in the wrong thread.....there is a separate thread for the 1999 - 2003 model 340's....there was a design change in the 340 in mid year 2003.....I believe all the newer models from 2004 - 2008 had the 8.1 engines but not 100% sure of that because they are larger and heavier than the earlier model.......

to answer your question you might want to read this thread I started (link below)...I had the same questions as you about the 6.2's....FWIW I love my boat and it is perfect for my needs....

as far as tubing behind a 340 I have never tried it but I don't think it would be a good idea.....the fuel consumption would really go up and the wake may not be ideal for tubing....that's why there is no towing ring installed on the transom.....

I agree with Cliff's comments about tubing.
I have a 2006 340 with 6.2s and vdrives. It gets about the same overall fuel burn as the 8.1s but at a slightly higher RPM. I believe the difference can be attributed to the engine weight difference. It's a great boat, but I wouldn't use it for tubing.

We need to get you out of this thread while you still can! This is where the sexier, newer 340's reside. Us pre-2003 owners are relegated to our own thread where we fool ourselves into thinking ours look "almost as nice" as the 2003+ models.

I think you'd only tube behind a 340 once before you realized what that entails. If tubing/watersports are a priority for you I think you should consider something no bigger than mid/upper 20'. A nice bimini and porta-potti on a 260 can make for a very nice day tripper. I suspect you can find one with a generator and AC too if you search hard enough...

Get the 340 and pickup a small center console to run the tubes around with.

Has anyone successfully installed anything to trigger power from the accessory switches at the helm?

I connected a ridged LED light to my nav light pole. When I reverse into my slip at night I hit the FWD ACC switch and it goes on. I couldn't understand why ACC1 didn't work.

So, nav light pole, as in anchor light? If so, why would Fwd acc work?

No. sorry I explained it wrong. The anchor light up on the arch. It's on a pole. You have a fwd light on when on way and both fwd and rear when at anchor. I bought one of these http://www.rigidindustries.com/led-lighting/70151 and mounted it pointing to the rear on the pole. Then used the acc switch to turn it on.
