Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

Yes I hear music in the cabin but not from the clarion that I hear in the cockpit. The cabin only gets its sound from the am/fm/DVD player that is to the right of the kitchen sink and above the cabinet. The Clarion that is above the breaker panel only plays in the cockpit. I can't play the Clarion in the cabin.

Something has been changed up in your wiring and you're gonna have to do some digging around to see what has been changed up.

I just went to the owners manual and looked at the schematic. The two systems are totally independent of each other.the way mine works is correct (but strange). This is with the upgraded sound system. Is yours the upgraded system? Thanks for your help.

JJ, mine plays inside the cabin and outside in the cockpit from the clarion head unit located in the electrical panel. The switches just turns on and amp for each zone. (I have the stock system, not the upgrade)

I have the upgraded sound system and it functions just as yours does. Clarion head unit for cockpit and head unit above tv for cabin.

Jeremy, where is the subwoofer located?

If I remeber right it is on the starboard side in the carpeted step compartment below the hanging closet just forward of the salon sofa bench.

The previousl owner left the forward hatch open and the screen/shade rusted. The shade itself has rust marks, is wrinkled (probably from holding water and stretching), and will not retract without a lot of work. Has anyone else replaced the shade? How difficult and what was the approximate cost? Any suggestions for a good replacement or place to obtain it?

Thank you

I've had good luck with:

http://www.imtra.com/

for replacing unusual Sea Parts like this. They came through with a hatch arm and that plastic clip that holds the shade closed.

I have completed the cabin and cockpit LED conversion on my '05 340 (great improvement by the way). Need some advice/guidance. On my boat I have two large overheads in the cabin that have both a 12V G4 pin LED bulb, AND a 25w 110v E14 base incandescent bulb. The G4 LED was obviously no problem. Having a devil of a time finding an E14 110v LED to replace the incandescent. They are out there but from Chinese sources and their quality, and safety, is problematic. Anyone have a source or should I just leave the 110v socket empty?

I left mine empty too. The LEDs burn so little power I wasn't concerned about AC vs DC.

Not to mention that the heat generated by the AC bulbs will ruin your new LED bulbs, so leave it empty.

Here is what I did...

http://www.amazon.com/E14-Candelabra-Base-Socket-Adapter/dp/B002AG0YVW

This adapter opens up your options for an AC LED. Unfortunately, most of these bulbs, especially when used with this adapter, are too long to fit in the fixture, but there is a way around this. The globe portion, which is glass on an incandescent bulb, is plastic on these bulbs and serves no purpose other than cosmetic. Grab the plastic cover and twist it off and the bulb should fit right in the fixture.

Sorry to interrupt the thread, but am in the market for a 2005-2008 340 DA. Reading thru the two forums specifically to the 340, im looking for some advice on the engines. I'd prefer 8.1s but there seem to be few around. 6.2s seem to be the most popular. I hope I will get a lot of great feedback from the group. I am mostly concerned with time to plane, RPM to hold plane, and fuel consumption. What has been your experience?
Im in the west Michigan area, by the way.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

The reason you're not seeing many 8.1's around is they are the preferred engines and sell much faster than the 6.2's. While the 6.2 May be enough power they are working a lot harder to get the same results of the 8.1's.

With the 8.1's your best economy is right around 3250-3450 rpm and you'll be getting .95-1.00 gph.

The 6..2s are good too. I run 3200 rpm and average 20 kts at around 28 gph. Time to plane is average, but I recently switch the stock 3 blade props with 4 blades and saw a slight difference.

Anyone happen to know what size the clamshell vent covers are on port side for the exhaust fan? Found them on ebay in two sizes, Small 5-11/16 X 5 and Medium 7-3/8 X 6-5/8.
