Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

Need the king to reach out to the widest part of the berth. Be careful going to thick on the foam, it' makes getting in and out of the bed difficult. After about 4 years of dealing with a 4" memory topper I bought a custom innerspring mattress two years ago, best money I've spent on the boat. Should have done that the first year I bought the boat.

Would you care to share where you purchased it and an idea on price? I personally hate the memory foam topper and I am torn between ordering the custom pillowtop or entire mattress.

I bought mine from http://www.comfortcustombedding.com/ They have the template already for our era 340 and it fit perfect, it was $1,400 two years ago including shipping. I have a 6" innerspring with 2" of foam on top, two densities with the topmost inch being memory foam. They are located in Plantation Fl, I was down two winters ago for the Miami show and visited their store and tried out what they had on the floor, how I picked what I got. They can make any configuration you want, he walked me around his shop and explained all the materials they use, was interesting. It has a hinge built into the middle of the innerspring so it folds in half to get through the cabin door. My only regret is not doing it the first year I bought the boat, it's as comfortable as my mattress at home.

The latch on my transom door for some reason no longer seems to line up properly. I can push, pound, and otherwise struggle to get in in enough to hold the doors closed but it vibrates loose underway. Is there a fix (actually is there a reason for this) or should I just unscrew the latch, reposition and drill new holes and screw it back in?

I'm getting ready to do my spring maintenance. One job that I usually outsource is replacing the impellers. I have the 6.2s with V-Drives. I've seen videos posted of replacing them on the 8.1s, but not on the 6.2s. Anyone have experience with replacing impellers on the 6.2s and can pass on some advice? Thanks

Does anyone have a photo of the factory installed transom flag mount they could post.

I know they are recessed but are they also at a 45 degree?

Is there any advice or tricks I need to know before installing Dinghy ramps on my 2005 340SD ?

Well, it's not an SD, it is a DA...having said that, keep in mind that the swim step is not solid, so when you drill through, you will be creating a hole to the bilge. Thus, use lots and lots of sealant. Keep in mind too, that the hull is not really reinforced over the swim deck, so don't go too heavy with your dinghy, or at least check with Sea Ray for their thoughts on how much weight it can safely support.

Have you installed one on the 340DA?

No. I ended up buying a Boston Whaler and selling the dinghy. I liked carrying a dinghy from port to port when I had my 320 DA, but the height of the swim platform off the water on the 340 made it impractical. My back was no where near strong enough to muscle the dinghy up that high. Additionally, the boat is documented, and the dinghy would have covered both the name/home port and transom light. That would render the boat illegal for night time operations, and in violation of the name display requirements for a documented vessel.

For those who have installed dinghy ramps on a 340DA do you have any installation tips?

Because I haven't installed one on my boat, does not negate my advice...however, in this case, I think you might get more of a response making a dedicated thread in the sport cruiser section. That way, you might attract more attention to your plight.

I have the upgraded sound and speaker option from the factory. Is it just me or does anyone else get annoyed that the factory Clarion doesn't play in the cabin. On my 280 I could just use the fader control to balance between the cockpit and the cabin. It just seems strange to me to have two separate systems.

JJ, mine plays in the cabin. Do you have the speaker selector switch on the wall when you first enter the cabin on the left?

Does anybody know the dimensions of the helm seating surface? I want to get a "booster pad" made for my wife and can't get to the boat.

If I can get there tomorrow, I'll try to get a measurement for you. My wife uses a boat cushion floatation device, and it fills the seat well, so off hand I would say it is about the same size.

Thank you, Scott

The only speaker switches that I have there are on and off for the cabin and the same for the cockpit. I don't have a selector that allows you to choose cabin, cockpit or both. Is that what you have?

Where are they located?
