Has any one put on an aft canvas from the rear of the arch back towards the tramson to get additional shade? I am not interested in a full camper canvas but just some extra shade on the those really hot days? Thanks!

I don't have an pics of my boat with it up but I had a sunfly shade made last year similar to the one that sportrs78 has in his sig pc. I bought the poles from Canvas designers and then had the shade made locally. The poles were expensive because I got the ones that slid to shorten but you get what you pay for and these poles are awesome. In total I am into it for $2200 but it is great, gives me shade and keeps the rain out of the cockpit when p. Goes up and comes down in 2-3 minutes. Only downfall is I would not run at speed with it.

Hi all. Earlier I posted asking for feedback on the 340 and many responded and told me how great the boat is. We finalized a deal for an 04' 340 over the weekend and close on all the paperwork Friday. So now all I need is all the snow to disappear!
This being my 5th boat but my first with inboards does anyone have a maintenance schedule for the 8.1's or a list of spare parts and tools they carry like spark plugs etc. I know with my 4.3's I always had a spare IAC sensor. Also what is the cool fuel issue I have read about? And last question what is the riser and manifold lifespan with the fresh water cooled setup of the 8.1 I know they were replaced last year on this boat, so is 10 years average?
thanks in advance.

I am replacing my ice maker with an AC/DC fridge on my 06 34. I am adding a DC breaker and running a positive to the fridge but cant seem to locate where the negative bus is located behind the panel. Can anyone please assist? Thanks
I replaced my ice maker last year. All the wiring for the fridge option was already there, just needed to add the breaker to the panel on the front engine wall. I have a 2004 but assume a 06 would be the same. When you take the panel off you should see the wiring to the blank where the breaker goes.

Congrats Sguignet - Where will you be keeping her? Do you have some pics..
I am having trouble figuring out how to post pictures through the iPad but I do have some. And I will be keeping her in the bush river as I live in harford county about 5 minutes from the marina. The wife and I do frequently visit annapolis on the occasional weekend though.

Well, I'm done with my project....I didn't take any pictures while I was installing it, but I still have the boat opened up so I'll grab some shots that might be helpful for my fellow 340 owners.

Speakers: Polk mm651um x4 http://www.polkaudio.com/products/mm651um

Wet Sounds 10" Free Air Sub http://www.boemarine.com/wet-sounds-...ound-shipping/

Amp: Wet Sounds HD-6 http://www.boemarine.com/wet-sounds-...free-shipping/

I set the system up so that the new amp powers the cockpit speakers on channels 1-4 and the Sub is bridged on channels 5-6. The cabin speakers are still powered by the OEM amp and the boat's OEM switches still function to power each individual amp.

I used the same circuit breaker as Jason (Aftica thread) which was a Blue Sea 60 Amp surface mount breaker, mounted on the bulkhead ahead of the batteries in the engine room. Make sure that you get a circuit breaker that is ignition protected if you are going to install it in the bilge.

The main challenge in my boat was cutting the hole for the sub, and fishing the speaker wire to the bilge. I cut the hole with a roto-zip circular saw. Use a mask if you do this, it makes a lot of dust and you do not want fiberglass dust in your lungs......To beef up the hole, I then made a backplate with some ½ inch plywood and epoxied it to the backside of the cutout. I mounted the same place SR mounts the OEM upgraded stereo Sub, on the port side just in front of the passenger seat, low. Since the area behind the sub is an open cavern that houses the battery charger, exhaust blower for the head and galley and central vacuum, I sealed the speaker with silicone around the diameter, so water has no way to enter the cabin area.

The two stock amps are located behind the DC panel, and fortunately all the speaker wires are located back there. After cutting enough tie straps to free them up enough to gain access, I cut them away from the stock amp wiring, meticulously labeling them, as I intend to use the removed amp on my whaler. Sea Ray did a nice job labeling each of the speaker wires, which is a good thing, because they all were separated, and without the labels (numbers only, so have your schematic handy) it would have been impossible to identify the wire pairs. I attached the wires to a 8 circuit block, and then extended the wiring long enough to reach the mounting spot under the sliding couch. I did have to drill a new hole for the power, as the existing hole had very sharp edges and not enough clearance.......

For the power....I went a little overboard. I found some 1/0 cable on ebay, (for some reason I thought I was still in inverter mode) so that is what I used to run from the batteries to the DC panel. I installed two posts down low on the power board that SR used to mount everything and ran the 1/0 line to those spots. Then I used 4 gauge wire from the posts to the amp. I drilled new holes in the bulkheads to run the power lines from the DC panel to the bilge and will use great gobs of silicone to seal the holes (think CO coming from engine room, it needs to be sealed from the cabin)

I tested the system after the install, and it sounds fantastic...better than I could have imagined. I should have done this years ago.....

Now the task will be to get some photos for you guys, and put the boat back together, that process may take as long as the install. All told, I probably spent about 10-12 hours working on it, and about a 2 ounces of blood here and there.

Here are two of the photos I currently have...I'll take more tomorrow, I promise.

Just called South Coast Marine ref replacing my anchor with a stainless steel. I currently have a 25 lb. Kodiac and have been told that none of the other brands will fit my anchor mount. They want $1020 (wow) for a stainless steel and $145 for the galvanized. Has anyone tried the Delta/Wing Stainless anchor as a replacement for their Kodiac?

Thanks

Tomorrow's project....

View attachment 34614

I bought the bulbs from marine beam.com.

2 G4 10 led bulb. Side pin
8 G4 10 back pin
3 mini wedge bulbs for courtesy floor lights

My festoon bulbs were longer than I thought, so their replacement will have to wait.

Done with stereo upgrade. I installed the amp under the couch in the salon. The new amp controls the cockpit speakers, the OEM controls the cabin.

Cockpit system: Wet Sounds HD-6 Amp, Wet Sounds 10" FA Subwoofer, Polk mm-651um 6 ½ speakers X4

Cabin: POS amp, Polk dB-651 speakers X 2, Panasonic OEM X2, Clarion head unit and six disc changer.

Anyone have a source for our craptastic duck fart horn. I am search challenged this evening I can't find the thread about it.

They are in stock at my dealer, want me to pick up one for you?

How much $$$ for the real horn?

It was around $300 by the time I installed it, I think......I don't remember exactly. Pretty easy job, I located the compressor in the compartment behind the cutout at the helm and the horn on the top of the arch between the radome and glomax.

The electric horn that is in the bow is pretty inexpensive, around $30 if memory serves. I left mine intact, for times when I don't wish to scare the locals.

Appreciate the offer Scott. Was looking for the p/n to search online. Looks like it is 1401736.
